I think my mother in law did a lot of crockpot or slow cooker cooking when my husband was growing up because he always seems to turn up his nose when I get them out unless I'm making priest chicken. Come to think of it, there are quite a few things he swore he didn't like when we got married but he eats now. Of course, I'm not all that fond of my mom's cooking either so who can blame him. My mom tells me I put too many spices in my food=I'm putting more than salt and pepper in my food.

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

My secret weapon for crazy days/nights cooking - my crockpot! I LOVE, love love it. I can't tell you how many times it has saved me from fronzen dinners. I just decide in the morning what I want to pop in (and with the newer ones you can put the food in frozen ) add the spices and turn the baby on! By the time the girls and I walk in from schools, dinner is cooked. I just have to turn it down to warm and decide if we want bread and a salad with it. Couldn't be easier!

I can't image not being able to have a deep freezer!!! Ours is big enough for the whole family to fit in.
Shawn, you have way too many rules where you live. I would have gone crazy by now.

Sneaky, sneaky! I've been trying to convince my husband for years to get a small deep freeze. We have a side by side and it fills quickly, plus it's like putting a jigsaw puzzle together to get all the groceries in sometimes. I think he has bad memories of his mom pulling mystery items out for dinner!

We do a lot of soup in the winter. Put out a plate of apple slices and cheese or some sandwich items and you have a pretty healthy meal. I can have dinner ready in less than 10 minutes.
