My youngest likes the movie Cars and says he wants a Mater birthday. Now exactly how do you do that????

Oh yes, a monkey cake. Actually, it was just the head & it is the 2nd time I've done this one. I've done Bear in the Big Blue House, Bert & Ernie, a 3 dimensional-stacked Cat in the Hat's Hat, Dora, SpongeBob, gingerbread houses, Strawberry Shortcake, 3 dimensional castle, Dinosaur, 3 dimensional doll/Barbie Princess Cake, Pumpkins, Ghosts, 2 wedding cakes & countless regular fancy cakes. I love Wilton (& the cake challenges on Food Network-watched Gingerbread House last night)! I've never tried fondant, but want to practice w/it this winter after things calm down a little. We have a great bakery nearby that sells cake decorating supplies- she has EVERYTHING! My mom used to make cakes, too & has all of the pans from when we were kids- Smurfs, Mickey Mouse & Bert & Ernie was her pan. For Mater, I'm not sure. I checked the Wilton site & the only Cars Wilton pan is Lightning McQueen. When is the birthday? Are you up for a little challenge? If you want a shaped cake instead of a scene, you could stack 2 sheet cakes & free hand cut to the rough shape & then use a picture as a guide when piping. I looked real quick on ebay & there was a listing for a lapel pin that was a pretty good pic for a guide. I'd love to see it when you are done. Good luck!

Thanks T! Here's a website that has some pics of our '68 Hemi Barracuda. In the top photo, our's is the blue car with Sorcerer on the side - behind the guy. Scroll down a bit and you'll see photos of hubby standing it up on the back wheels. He loves to do that.....

T - check out the link below. "The Dutch" is a race at Maple Grove Raceway and is the grand finale for the race season. This year they're adding a Hemi Shootout to the schedule. Hemi guys are insanely competive so they run a "race within a race" to be the top Hemi. We've been waiting all season for our new motor and it's done just in time to make the race. It's got crazy horsepower and the car just might not be able to make it down the track. Not really a good thing... But if it does make a straight run, it'll be amazing!

Ohhhh B - please go outside and take a big breath of that wonderful Tn air for me! I miss it soooo much!!!! I'm going home the day after thanksgiving though, so I'll get a mini fix. My 20th HS reunion (I can't belive it's been that long - I swear I don't feel that old!) is going on that weekend.

Ok CC - educted me? What is the Dutch Classic race?
