While I was typing my reply dlf got hers in and omigosh I'm sitting here at work all teary eyed. That was the best!

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.

Okay Scottmom, sorry I'm late, but I come bearing my favorite Lemon Zinger herbal tea, a soft blanket just out of the dryer, and a big hug.

Your principal was totally out of line and I have to agree with CC on going to him/her and letting him know that everyone involved worked their tails off to make this carnival happen. We always do a "review" of our events and make a list of things that worked and things that didn't work, but we do it in the spirit of making it better for the next time and NEVER criticize anyone for the efforts they put forth. Boo, hiss to your principal!

Okay—there’s a story coming…if you don’t care to read it just hit the next post.

I make so many mistakes as a parent. I say things and do things that I wish I could grab back and tuck away into the pile of “almost mistakes” but usually I just reflect on them and feel guilty. I mean I’ve already written letters of apology to the boys for their memory boxes so they’ll know that I’m doing the best I can; but truly I’m a Dr. Phil show in the making. Well recently I was tucking Sammy the 8 year old into bed. I laid down next to him which was normal about 3 months ago but something I haven’t been able to do much since the accident. Now as background, Sammy took the fall the hardest of the boys and poor thing-when he saw me in the emergency room with a face that looked like hamburger meat…well he threw up three times before dad got him out of there. So as I laid down, Sammy said “Mommy, does it hurt yet”. I said “what” and he said "does your body hurt yet". I said “Yes Sammy, it has hurt since I fell”. Sammy said..but you told me in the hospital that grown ups don’t feel pain like kids do…and that it wouldn’t hurt you.” Well I don’t remember saying that (lots of drugs at the time), but I said “Sammy, sometimes parents say things because we don’t want our children to hurt, or feel pain. Momma knew how much the idea of me hurting would be painful to you…so I told you it wouldn’t hurt”. Not knowing how he’d take that white lie, I watched his face. He looked at the ceiling for a minute and then looked back at me and said “Thanks Mom”….I said “Your welcome hon…good night”. As I walked out the door Sammy rolled over and I heard him say “You’re the best mom in the whole world”.
So I send this story to you because I know that most of us are doing the best we can…and I know that once in a while no matter what challenges we’re facing…we get it right. I guess that is what this parenting thing is all about and why anyone who critiques what we do as a PTO member, working our hardest for the children...well they just don't deserve the same voice!

Scottmom-
What a stinker!! Don't you just love it when people that let you do all of the work tell you after the fact what was wrong?!! Well I say "Nuts to him!". Did your kids all have fun? Were you pleased? Are you out any money? Yes, yes, no. I think that is all that matters. Anytime the kids are happy, I think we have a winner. I would let that principal know that he should write his suggestions down, so next year he can do it!! (Ok-my bark is worse than my bite, but you see what I'm saying ;)

I hope your sinus infection is healing-maybe it is from extreme pickle juice exposure! So, most importantly, what shows do you watch? Maybe between us we can fill you in.

Have some chocolate & froofy coffee today. And wear pajamas. Definetly pajamas.

ScottMom - I'm off to bed.... busy, busy week.... You get some rest too. A good nights sleep will, hopefully, make things look clearer in the light of day.

I really do think you should talk to the principal. She should be on your side and the biggest, most visible supporter of your team.

I'm sorry for you. That principal should be ashamed. She should hold you up as a positive example for all of those inactive parents and celebrate you!

I know beignets is going to weigh in on the bullying tactics this lady laid on you.

I'm glad you didn't move farther away because that place needs you!

What do you even say to that kind of treatment? You probably took it only because you were exhausted, ailing and blindsided all at the same time. However, now that it's sunk in, do you have the kind of relationship where you can meet with her one-on-one and say, "Listen,...." That's what I did the last time I felt beat up by someone who should've done better. It made things awkward for a little while but in the long run it made things oh so much better.

Maybe you should have two brownies. They're Ghirardelli... double chocolate.... and they're still warm...... ;) (don't worry, everyone. there's plenty to go around.)
