Okay, venting!!!

Plan a Wednesday family night fundraiser with a business.

Friday: Pick up coupon flyer from business, make copies of flyer, sort, and put in teachers mailboxes with note explaining fundraiser and requesting that flyers be sent home Monday. Also request announcement for Monday.

Today: Find out that announcement was made, but some teachers never distributed flyer. Students are confused by hearing announcement but not receiving flyer. Time is lost for students to distribute extra coupons to family, friends and neighbors to increase participation in fundraiser. PTO Prez calls school to remind them that flyers MUST go out today. Extra work for her.

Now I'm thinking...

Future: Teacher request money for classroom project. There is no money because teacher forgot to send flyer home so people could participate in fundraiser.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.

Thanks, beignets. I'm trying not to take it personally and we need all the luck we can get.

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

"So I attend a school meeting tonight to find out that my principal didn't think it was wonderful and had to listen to 20 minutes or so of what I (just me here, no one else) should have done differently or even better. "

This was said in PUBLIC? Constructive critcism in private, one on one, if merited, is accpetble practice if done properrly. But in public? I dont think so.

I could drone on about people skills, management style, effective leadership, and managing VOLUNTEER corps, giving credit where credit due, rallying the troops and focusing on the positivies, AND BEING APPRECIATIVE OF VOLUNTEER WORK, but why bother. I think you get my drift.

That kind of stuff will come back to haunt that principal, since its sounds like she said it in public forum for all to see and hear.

Awyay, it stinks but dont take it personally. It wasnt and isnt directed at YOU and has more to do with the person that delivered the sermon.

good luck at your shcool!!!!

Thank you so much for the support. d-you've got me crying, again. After a little sleep and replaying the nights events over in my head, the only thing I can come up with is that the principal is new and intimidated by me and the excellent relationships I have with the staff. The really funny part is I don't want to be doing this, so right now, I'm a huge pushover for anyone willing to put out good ideas and run with them. No, I don't think she is the type of person who will sit down and talk with me about how I was blindsided and had my feelings hurt when she could have just written down her suggestions and given them to me just like everyone else. She did it to make a point and I have a feeling, by the silence of everyone else in attendence, that her feelings were not the concensus and even shocked some of the people there. So I'm sitting here trying to figure out if her behavior will become the norm or if this is a one time thing. I really don't want to sit through that again. Essentially, I'm sitting here in my pjs, sipping some pumpkin spice coffee, and watching reruns of House until I talk myself into doing laundry and going on about my day without constantly dweeling on my hurt feelings. By the way, the only show that didn't record was Studio 60 and I'm not sure I even like it that much. Thanks for the support guys. I would be a mess without you.

CC, good for your son for standing up like that! Raised him right!

Enjoy your break. I'm seriously thinking of taking a random day off to just get caught up at home.

d - how do you do that? I never cry as much as I do when I read your posts. You're the BEST! And your little guy is a good reminder that their little eyes and ears and great big brains are always working!

My son hit a tough spot last week. A classmate used the "N" word like it was nothing. My guy was naturally shocked. He said "You can't say bad words like that!" The kid said, "It isn't a bad word. My grandaddy says it every time he wathes football!" My guy explained exactly why it's a horrible word and said he was offended. The next day the kid came to school, said he was sorry because he really didn't understand what he was saying and why it was bad and said that he wouldn't do it again. Awesome!

It's pouring down rain here. My backyard is one giant puddle. I'm getting everything ready to head out of town for the next six days (I LOVE fall break!).
