Yes, Dottie did mention that. I don't think that anyone is trying to "attack" her in any way, just trying to save postage!
I also sent out some letters from Dottie's list and most were returned. Many others sent back letters stating that they could not donate. I would be hesitant to buy a book that lists addresses if they change so frequently. It seems that as soon as the book is published it would be out of date.
If those of us who have used Dottie's list can update it with people and companies who did respond it will save a fair amount of money for everyone.
Again, I want to state that it was very generous of Dottie to share her list and it clearly is not her fault that the list has become outdated! It seems that many posts here have taken umbrage to any critisism. Let's take this feedback in the positive manner that I believe it is intended!
We also have received the $100 Circuit City Card and an American Girl Doll. In addition, Ownes Corning sent us a 3 foot tall stuffed pink panther and Kodak sent us a beautiful hard cover book on 100 years of Olympic History (valued at $40). The New York Giants wrote us and said they would send us somehting appx four weeks before our event. And CVS sent us 2 $10 gift cards....things are still trickling in but the local businesses are really pulling through for us.
Just thought I'd let everyone know...We've just started getting responses today and so far we have $100.00 gift card from circuit city and an american girl doll. The principal has also agreed to donate lunch with a student at McDonalds to the highest bidder! My daughter wants me to bid $200.00 for this!!! LOL Goof Luck everyone! Deb E
I just thought I would let everyone know the results we got from the mailing list Dottie provided. We sent out the letters about 3 weeks ago and responses are just coming in. We've received a few items i.e. ($100.00 from Circuit City, an autographed photo of Dolly Parton, and autographed copy of Jenny Craig's Cookbook) but an awful lot are coming back "FOE - Unable to Forward" These are mostly the stars and music groups. I'm sure a lot of the stars change their addresses often so please don't think I'm speaking badly of the list Dottie shared - I'm still very thankful she chose to share!! I am going to try and compile a list of the addresses that are no longer any good so that no one else loses the postage we did. Also I'll try and add a list of the goodies we received. Be patient - it'll take me a couple weeks to squeeze out this list!!
