There is truth to the whole higher education appreciation when you are older IMHO. Waited here ~ the wait helped me to understand I did not know everything at 18, could not earn boat loads of cash without a degree (even when working 2 jobs), appreciate how much college costs and partying all night long with the rest was not an option if I was going to make my mark on the world.
Made the leap today ... I have been wanting to try my hand at writing novels and decided I have waited long enough. Haven't quite picked out one specific plot but when speaking with some writers they assure me the first step is just to start writing and worry about the technical issues later.

d, maybe you need to take some electrical classes. Just think you could save money by doing your own home repairs and maybe even make a little fixing stuff for neighbors!!
I'd like to take a Spanish class too. Took one in college, but didn't really learn enough to carry on a decent conversation. Might be something fun for my daughter and I to do together. My employer looks for people who can speak other languages too, so could help me out at work.

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.

Way to go CC--woo hoo--I heard a great comment once when a lady was thinking about going back to school and she said "but I'll be 46 in 4 years when I get my degree" and the response was "how old will you be in 4 years if you don't get your degree"...
You know I think going back at this point means you'll be getting a lot more out of your "education". When I went through I was just going to "classes" and didn't have any relativity to the information I was learning. Now studying things would be much more relavent to my life and my experiences and way worth it. I think I'm going to take conversational Spanish and learn to ride a motorcycle when the boys head back to school. I'm tired of not being able to talk with the folks that are working around the area here and while I can handle my own with French and German...that doesn't do me too much good around here.
I've spent as much money on rewiring electrcity around here lately as I have anything else. The sewar pump alarm line must have been nicked by the deck guys and so now that had to be rerun...I mean this stuff starts to add up you know.
Oh well--another day in the neighborhood! Best wishes for smooth pregnancy for your family Shawn. And don't get into arguements with strangers...you just don't know what loonies are out there anymore...and with reverse google--they can type in your name and get a map right to your house. Scarey stuff (type in your phone number and see what I mean---I removed mine about 3 months ago..)

Shawn ~ you deleted half your post ~ now my "internet muscles" comment seems completely out of left field... My brother calls them Chat Room Muscles. Some folks do seem to find a lot of strength in anonymity. I try to live by the same rules in the virtual world as in the day to day one: Be nice or be quiet, and don't say anything about someone that you wouldn't say to someone.

I never thought I'd be so glad to see four solid days of rain in the forecast ~ but they're followed by a 20 degree drop in temps so, Woo Hoooooo!

Shorty starts schools Thursday so we have to think of some fun things to do today and tomorrow. Last two days of summer break..... :(

I took my placement test yesterday. I earned a 99 (out of 99) on the reading portion. I'm pretty excited about that. On the math, well, I'll be taking algebra over again. Shorty can help me with my homework! I'm meeting with an adviser this afternoon to get my schedule set and to register for classes. This is all so exciting. College at 42 ~ wow...
