Grrrr, it's hard to stay on a higher plane with Nelson Mandela when you get nasty letters from attorneys. Today I get a letter stating that my neighbor is complaining about our truck/trailer sitting behind the garage and that 'violates subdivision restrictions'. Neighbor isn't even in subdivision or city as the property line we share sits him squarely outside the line. I thought I'd found a loophole until I see that his last name is the same as the man who is the developer of the subdivision and the other man who is the attorney that drafted the letter. Aye yi yi ...... The neighbor has no legal right to object, the attorney doesn't either, but the developer does. Seriously, it all sits behind the garage, which IMHO, is in line with the 'concealed from view' restriction. I guess I'll go to that homeowners meeting tonight after all and maybe nominate myself as president!!!!!

CC I loved that. I worry a lot that I don't do enough, work hard enough to make a difference or live up to my potential. I know when I target my energies I can kick butt...however it is so easy not to. Just by asking we sent 21 boxes of toys to the kids in Kabul. The former marine I was working with told me he had tears in his eyes when he was there with all the boxes...so much of this is just one foot in front of the other...and yet it is so easy for me to sit and stare at the TV without thought or motivation. One thing I really hate about myself.
Well you and Nelson have me thinking....

Silver - I hope the events of today work out in the best way possible for you. Chin up, shoulders back, you can do it.

d - You set a wonderful example for your children. Our kids are always watching us. When they see us treating others with basic human kindness they learn to do so and to expect the same in return.

I suppose we've all heard or read many uplifting messages from Nelson Mandela. I found this one on the internet while looking for a message for a dear friend who needs a hand up today....

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in all of us. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
~Used by Nelson Mandela in his 1994 inaugural speech

DLF in the end all humans are the same ~ compassion and respect is all that's required.
I have a touchy day ahead of me so of course I didn't get much sleep last night - thinking about today's events, strategy and resolution. Of course watching a movie until late didn't help much either. Why oh why do we feel the need to watch something we have seen so many times?
Well off to hit the coffee pot pretty hard. Have a great day all!

A girlfriend came over last night with wine. Very nice and I needed it. We stayed around talking till 10 and for the first time in MONTHS I woke up with a hangover and of course TODAY the workers show up at 0700...to work the pool plastering.

They were here till 8 last night to put the fence up. I really like the guy that is doing our stone work. He is from Mexico and has helped in so many ways (like the fence line is just something he and some friends did for us--of course we're going to pay them but you know he didn't have to). He said he likes us because we treat them with respect and act like he and his men are real people.

Amazing that isn't the case all around. Just giving them some ice water and making lunch a couple of times. Sad that others don't do the same ...
