It's a Joy to Volunteer

I’ve been blessed with gifts and talents
To be used some special way.
To lend a hand or help someone
Who’s struggling day by day.
All it costs is my commitment
And a little extra caring.
While making a priority
Of reaching out and sharing.
And it’s a privilege working
For the causes I hold dear.
Just doing what I can to help
Each time I volunteer.

That's a great poem. I hope you'll also share it on its own thread on the boards. Fear is that many folks don't make their way through "Page 2"

Thanks,

You know d, my kids started on Aug 23rd and it didn't feel too much different until this last Friday about lunch time. Nobody to feed except me and it was really quiet. I got so much done! Of course, I was at the school for an hour in the morning doing spirit wear, but the school routine feels good.

Everyone has gone to school...and I was there till 12 today after starting balloon drop off at 0630 this morning. WOO HOO...everyone loved them though--we had 3 dozen this year!

Then the audit report--Spirit Store meeting and Spirit Wear meeting...Finally home again. So far it doesn't feel too different :).

Hope everyone enjoys their day ... d

Onaroll, I can so identify with the schedule stuff. I sat down the other day with our big calendar and everyone's sports/school schedules. Every day of the week for the entire month of Sept. and most of Oct. is filled with at least one activity except for Sundays. If I lost that calendar, all heck would break loose!

Just got e-mail announcement that our schools are dismissing early today due to heat. 90+ here today and tomorrow.

Tomorrow's the day - let the school year begin! We've got school, soccer, soccer, soccer, meetings, open houses, more soccer.

Just when I got the summer's schedule down to a science....LOL

I like that poem Shawn. Will be shamelessly using it for PTO things throughout the year!

The long weekend was nice. Got some things done around the house and still had some time to relax. Did everyone else have fun? Do anything special?

One of my brother-in-laws invited himself to dinner yesterday. I always have more food than needed so that's not an issue, but he is so whiny and cantankerous. My husband says, "Well, he is a kind of glass half empty guy." I say he's a "glass half empty and convinced there's a conspiracy to keep it that way" kind of guy. I think the only thing he didn't complain about was the food.

Oh, and I adore my father-in-law. I had made brownies for dessert(with ice cream and chocolate syrup and whipped cream) and my MIL says, "These brownies are so nice and moist, most people's are sort of dry." and my FIL says "Well, I knew they'd be good." Talk about making the cook feel good!

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.
