Oy--didn't even think about that with Shawn--I hope everything is okay--those fires were horrible. Shopping in a mall. I need to do that again soon. I've arranged all the boys conferences for today so tomorrow I can take them up to DC and go to the IMAX theater for something fun. We haven't really done much like that lately so it'll be nice. We're going to see "sea monsters" woooooooo...

Hey d! No racing this weekend. I just popped over to Louisville to meet a friend for a girl's weekend. It was pretty fun. The drive was beautiful thanks to the fall colors! We did a bit of shopping. All of the stores and malls were decked out for Christmas. Yikes. Silver, I agree, I'm not ready for any of that yet.

I never did get around to listening to the audio book. I'm really never in the car for more than 10 or 15 minutes these days so I just spent a lot of time catching up on favorites CDs. Gosh but Rod Stewart is still amazing. I fell in love with him in the 70s and still carry a torch....

VolMom - Sorry about all the flu. :( I hope everyone is feeling better and up to the Alabama trip. Where in Alabama? I lived in Albertville for a year and fell in love with it. It'll always be a 2nd home to me now. Good for your daughter on her award. You must be pretty proud.

Onaroll - how's the neck book? :p

Shawn - come out come out where ever you are. Seriously, worried here since we haven't heard from you since the fires. Everything OK?

Swamped? Most definately! Just got the dance over with, and are on our spiritwear sale, Holiday shop just around the corner and our McDonalds night fast approaching. Of course, no one has stepped forward to chair anything so I have to plan all of it. Feel like I am going nuts!

Daughter #4 was in the paper today for winning the "responsibility" award for her character education class. She was supposed to eat lunch with the principal, but came home that morning from school with the flu.

Four of six of us had the flu yesterday. Not a good time! One person is bad enough, but four is horrible. First I woke up sick, then daughter came home from school sick. Then husband walked in after work sick, although he tuffed it out at work. Then he no more than walked in and son #2's basketball coach called and said he got sick at practice. All over his expensive basketball shoes that he has worn LESS than a week.

We are planning on taking a road trip of our own. There are 13 of us piling into vehicles and going to Alabama Thursday after school. 12 1/2 hour trip, one way. Well, then you have to add on 3 hours out of the way to stop at a niece's house who has her feelings hurt that no one was going to see her house while "in the area". We are going down to Alabama for her sisters Blessing of wedding vows. Her and her husband were married almost a year ago, but mother-in-law is not happy about the "jeans and hoodies" elopment so she is throwing her own wedding for them. Just hope that everyone is well and can make the trip!

'I Feel Bad About My Neck: and Other Thoughts on Being a Woman' by Nora Ephron

It's really light, very funny, a little emotional, and very true in many ways.:p
