Happy Tuesday Everyone! Having some IT problems right now & waiting for my on-call IT person to come up with a fix but the problem doesn't stop me from catching up here ... just anything this client wants me to do on their system ... darn right!
Took the family to see Bee Movie this weekend and really loved it even though I was just thinking I'd be sitting through another animated movie for my kids sake. The overall message is a great and the story line really helps to explain why the overall message is so important. Oh and for the parents of the kids who was sitting behind me ... the next time you take your kids to a movie I would appreciate it if you told your kids putting your feet on the backside of the seat in front of you is considered bad mannors. About halfway through the movie I was going to fake a bathroom run and go behind the little one and just do the same right back until he got upset but the seat was already taken. Hmmm wonder if I could have paid those people behind the kid off with some candy or popcorn ...
Took my furball for a walk this am and nearly had that dead of winter 'snot frozen on your face' experience. You know the cold has to come but jeez!

Cool. Names are familiar but can't come up with many 1st names for most. Been a looooong time since high school. Did know guys with last names Riggins and Franks (he also had a sister that was an insurance agent and I think she still is, Belinda maybe). Can't conjure up first names right now. hehehee Swatek's I do know. They lived in my neighborhood, a block over. Boo-Boo (wonder if he still goes by that name since he is 40) was a grade below me and was really good friends with the guy that lived across the street from me. We used to get together and play cards (rummy and spades, if I remember right) and drink Kool-Aid. Sarah was a year ahead of me, Paul was my buddy (in my mind anyway), he bought me a carnation one time, was probably at least 3 years younger than me, but just adorable. Don't remember much about Sean, he was way younger. I believe I heard that Cy, the dad, had some health problems, but could have him mistaken with someone else. I knew some Biddle's. Lived next door to their grandmother when I was in elementary school (her last name was Roquemore, pronounced Rockmore), and I also worked with the sister at Colonial Bank but I can't remember her first or married name. Her brother's name was Steven (pretty sure) and he married a Laura ( I worked with her sister, Brenda, at Colonial Bank also). I hope all these are still married.

Giovanni's, across from Ace Hardware shopping center???? Right??? I may just have to drop in there one day. If it is there, my cousin lives behind it, just a little piece.

Now, how in the world did you end up in little ole Albertville, Alabama?? I am just amazed that you lived there. Did your kids go to Albertville Elementary? That is where I went to Elementary school, but it was called West End then (we had 3 elementary schools then that went to 5th grade) I have a 3rd cousin that is a teacher there along with her brother's wife. Also a good friend in high school is a teacher there, last I heard, along with other people I went to school with and teachers I had and know of.

Well, I guess that's enough space taken up on this board. Hope you have a great day.

Nice to know you too jajae! If you're heading west out of town on 75, turn left on turnpike, go past Edmondson and take the first right ~ that's Bridle Ridge. My best friend is 39, last name in high school was S... Also, there's Cal..., Can..., Carn..., McC..., Rig..., Fra... Swat...'s did the pool, Rob...'s did some landscaping, so did Bid....

Giovannis is just south of the 431/75 intersection on the right. Oh but that's yummy pizza, and the gyro platter alone is worth the trip!

Ok. Is that right of Edmondson St? I'm a little rusty on street names. My mom and dad lived on Sectionline Rd before he passed and if I remember right the place you are talking about would be very close to where they lived. Well, within a few miles. If any of your friends were around 41, 42, I very well may know them. I graduated from Albertville in 83. Could know some around 37, 38, my sister's age. Not sure where Giovanni's is, but I have heard people talk about it. Close to McDonald's??? Did you work in A'ville? I used to work at the Colonial Bank then Bank of Albertville (different name now, the one across from K'Mart next to King's Inn hotel) before I married. Give me some last names and I'll see if I can remember any. I was a Jordan before I married.

So nice to meet you.

jajae ~ that's amazing! I lived by the airport in a new subdivision off of Turnpike called Bridle Ridge. I'll bet we know lots of the same people because the friends I have there are all 'born-and-raised' locals.

Aye yi yi - 431. I had nightmares about that stretch of road the whole first six months I lived there. But I braved it every morning for a latte from JaMokas.

Mmm, Catfish Cabin - all the hush puppies and cole slaw you can eat!

If you ever find your way to Albertville on a Tuesday or Thursday night stop at International Karate (behind Giovannis) and say "Hey from Illinois" to the greatest people I know. Ooo, and then go into Giovannis for a pizza. :D

Crew Chief.... ALBERTVILLE, I am from Albertville. Isn't it a great little town? I live about an hour away now, but A'ville is still HOME. Haven't lived there for 19 yrs in January, but I still get so homesick sometimes, even though it has changed quite a bit. I check out the Sand Mountain Reporter's website 3 times a week, usually, to keep up with the happenings. Almost all my family lives there, so I get to go home pretty often. O, makes me just want to go right NOW. Wonder if I ever met you on the road while I was driving down 431??? By the way, how do you like how the people drive on that stretch of hwy?? I would rather drive in Atlanta, I think, than drive down 431 between Guntersville and Boaz. Agree?? What part of Albertville did you live in, if you don't mind me asking? I lived mostly off of Hwy 431 across the street from Catfish Cabin in a subdivision. LOVED IT. Was a great place to grow up. Wow, small world, as they say. Never would have thought I would "meet" anybody on this board that knows about ALBERTVILLE. Woo Hoo !!!!!

Where ever you live now, I hope it is as great as Airville, as the locals say. hehehehehe
