Scott-I'm not laughing at you, just with you! Your story just pickled, i mean tickled me! :D
Come read that post next week, when your carnival has been a smashing success!!! At least when someone asks you what perfume you are wearing you can say Vlaasic. SORRY!! Couldn't help myself. i'm delirious (sp) from dealing with psycho mom's. I really wish we could do personality tests when people are registering their kids at school or at least when they sign up to be a room parent.

yep cc- in a hair spray bottle. it was the first time I had every had any alcohol at all and went from Macon GA to Columbus GA (a 2 hour trip) and then sang Green Acres and the "you don't have to call me darlin, darlin" song the whole way back. I'm a goofy alcoholic. that's why my husband monitors the wine and peach daquiri's. Won't be telling the kids that story either.

ok--time for someone else to share goofy highschool story..........

The story about the dogs, wine, and kids was so funny my husband came running in to see what was wrong with me.
Reminds me of my day, runnung errands for carnival and sick mom with a croupy child in tow. Make a trip to Sam's for concession supplies, pharmacy for mom, get to her house and as I'm pulling something out of the back, a one gallon jar of pickles explodes before my eyes. Appearently it had a crack and all the movement aggrevated it-the Sam's people say it happens often! So I have a SUV full of Carnival supplies and a 3 year old that are all now covered in glass, pickles, and/or pickle juice with about 7 more place to stop in the next few hours before school is out. So I drop off the supplies at my house (closer than the school) and run to the carwash to try to fix the pickle mess. Then go to 5 more places and get lunch somewhere in between with my truck (and those in it) reaking of pickle and carpet cleaner and car freshener. Then back to my house to pickup the supplies. By now my back is killing me. Take the supplies to the school, but 3 year old is finally sleeping (better than I can say for myself dealing with his croup for 3 nights) so I just wait in the parking lot for 25 minutes, until I have to go in the school. Pick up the kids, get the supplies unloaded, and head off to the carwash-AGAIN! Did I mention that one of my stops was to get a bale of hay? Hay and pickle juice is such an aromatic combination. Try to vaccuum out all the hay and scrub away some more of the pickle smell. By now, the 3 kids realize I am crazy and ask for ice cream since they haven't had a snack yet. Get home and wish my husband a happy anniversary and tell him I would like a professional interior clean for the truck for a gift-which he has failed to get me anyway. So he tells me he'll take care of it on Sunday-the day after the carnival-just incase there are anymore carnival supply issues. Then he smells the truck and tells me it just smells like I left a happy meal in the car too long and then washed clothes in there (the car freshener) and that he will just take the other vehicle to work the rest of the week. Thanks for the support dear. Anyway, I hope tomorrow is better or I'm gonna need a caffine IV to get through it.
Shawn, hang in there.

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

Thank you all.....just putting out there helps.

GaMom - I know how you feel. This time last year I was hospitalized because my blood pressure had shot up to 190/145 (not good!) and I was having whats called vascular migrains. So, after giving me something to lower my blood pressure (I was in the ER), it plummeted to the point I passed out and people were freaking out! So, I got a 2 day stay in a lovely hospital room! Needless to say, trying to stay healthy this year. :D

Well, the countdown to the All American Rejects concert has begun. And My "cool mom" status is reinstated (for now at least). My daughter and her best friend are beyond excited - gotta say.... I'm really looking forward to it too.

GaMom - Vodka in hairspray bottles?!?!?! This is a whole new side to you. You rock!

Thanks for the medicine info. I haven't even been able to give him the zyrtec samples from the doctor. He's improved a lot over the past week. ScottMom also gave the local honey tip. We should give that a try.

My mom is the same way with medicine. Half a baby aspirin will knock her out for the whole day. When we moved from Georgia to Texas is when we all started having problems with allergies. They say if you can purchase some local honey from the area you are in a eat a TBSP. or so a day that it will help with allergy problems. I have found that over time the allergy problems seem to get better, but we still have problems when the season changes or when certain things start to bloom. I know how you feel about not wanting to give the kids medicine. My husband absolutely refuses to take any meds himself, but I would rather give some meds. here and there for allergies than spend 3-4 days in the hospital with a child. Been there done that (a few times) and I don't want to do it again.
