Gonna be grilling tonight too. I HAVE to take advantage of this gorgeous weather. I actually got a slight bit of tan this weekend when I was working in the yard. Unfortunately, it's a farmer's tan because I didn't think about the sun being that strong.

I've figured out the laundry thing: It's a conspiracy(I love Shawn) between the fashion industry and the manufacturer's of laundry equipment and supplies. You'll notice how the style is to wear layers of clothing: not one tee shirt, but two tees and a little hoodie. I asked my daughter just this morning how many layers she had on and she looked rather sheepish as she said "Just two."(long tee, shortie hoodie). I squinted my eyes and looked at her until she admitted she actually had on 3 layers. I then made her feel guilty until she removed one of the tees. It's going to be 80 today! Who needs that many layers?!

What a great weekend! Ohio ~ thought of you yesterday. It was a windy day so we got out the kites. Needless to say we forgot about the rain overnight and hit a few wet - muddy spots.
Grilled burgers last night ~ it's the first time in a long time the kids sat quietly at the table waiting eagerly for those burgers to come off the grill. I forgot how much they love homemade hamburgers on the grill.
It's going to hit 80 here today for the first time. Where oh where did I box up all those summer clothes?! Hmmmm ... I have to start thinking about grilling something for dinner tonight ... I think I have a couple of steaks ...
Have a great day everyone!

Wow, Cathedral Caverns is amazing. It was a beautiful day. The cave tour was about 1.5 hours. Then we went outside and hiked up the mountain for a couple of miles. It was a gorgeous hike. The dogwoods and other various trees were blooming as were some of the spring wildflowers. Today is mostly about yard work. I have several piles of laundry too but I can't bear to be inside on a day like today.

We saw Reign Over Me last night. It was a good movie. The subplots were a bit fractured but the main story was very good. My brother saw Wild Hogs and said he got a kick out of it. He said it was silly but he hasn't laughed that much at a movie in a long time so it was well worth it.

I'm off to run the weed trimmer. Not my favorite job but at least it's outside! I think we'll grill tonight too..... steaks, veggies, potatoes..... Mmmmmmm

Don't even mention the "L" word to me. Right now I am wondering how - if I washed 4 loads on laundry on Wed I can have 7 loads on Saturday (not including bedding). If yours are wearing 2 sets of clothes a day mine must be wearing 3 or 4! What is it with boys and socks ... I think mine changes his socks 3 times a day. Now I am all for clean socks but 3 pair a day ... he is just to young to have these issues!
They are tempting us with above 60 degrees the next two days ... time to break out the grill!

It's funny, Spring Break starts and I want it to end and when it's ending, we really start having fun. Today we went to the kids favorite McDonald's (it has a huge play place) that is about 30 minutes away. They have internet access so I can do work while the kids play. I think we were there for 2 hours. Then we went shopping at places we don't have here and caught a snack at one of the local bakeries. Now I'm sitting here watching KU hand the game over to UCLA (AAGGHHH!!!) and trying not to get depressed.
Do you ever have those days where you wonder where ALL the dirty clothes came from?!? We have a laundry schedule so it doesn't get out of hand but I'm think my kids were wearing two outfits a day instead of one because there is so much.

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

My brother called last night. He's doing great. He said he just got moved up to level 5+ so he's got a few more privileges and nicer barracks. Today they're doing combat training. Something about convoy ambushes. He graduates April 13 so he's looking forward to that.

We're off to see Cathedral Caverns State Park and will do some hiking. Should be fun!
