Hey, I probably did get on a soap box there, and I'm OK with that. I just think that sometimes people forget to look at the big picture and get lost in the details. That and I can be pretty opiniated at times. :D We all have our moments though, and I apologize if I have offended anyone

hey misty... I didn't mean to imply YOU were on a soap box. I also forgot some info. Our school is rural mid ecomonic range with 275 kids with only about 1/3 participation. At the same time our SavoryDough sale was going on, my church was selling dough thru Little Ceasars and it was a resounding flop because of the price. The were also doing the pizza kit sale at the same time which was a larger success for them. We had not heard good things regarding the shelf doughs but thing are always changing. If you can't get the savory dough since I'm not sure where you are located...get samples from everyone and have a tasting party! The only problem we ran into with premade dough is keeping it cold. Luckily in March it was still cold enough to open the door and let mother nature cool off our room. Of course we had to wear coats and mittens but...when it warmed up the lids would pop off!!! Not good.

Good Grief... we used the Savory Cookie Dough last March. We had never used it before and had HUGE success with this product as some of the sport team had sold it in the fall each year. It is "fresh" (really it is) as it is made in Grand Rapids Michigan (1 1/2 hours away) and chilled not frozen 2 days prior to shipment. Of course they must provide an ingredient list and they did...prior to and right on the top of the tub. They are also a sponsor of the "Make a Wish" program which is a nice selling point also. www.savoryFoods.com 800-878-2583. Our cost was $4.50 per 3# tub and we charged $9.00 each. Yes there are preservatives. Yes there is sugar. Yes, as the main ingredient in a diet it would not be good. Yes, I have a brain and am teaching my children to make informed choices. Yes, childhood obesity is a gigantic problem in America. Yes...we live in America where we are still free to make choices, and in the big picture isn't that more important that what you sell for a fundraiser. Be a help not a hinderance and get off your soap box!!!!

I just wanted to offer one bit of advice for cookie dough: A lot of adults (kids too, but not as frequently) eat the dough right out of the tub. Make sure that the dough you sell is pasturized. Ask the vendor if "Pasturized" is printed on the tubs. As long as it is, it is an easy sell to those who eat it right out of the tub. We have several families who buy ours for that reason.

We use Arizona Gold Cookie Dough. We get it through www.fiestafundraising.com in Phoenix, AZ. It is pasturized and sells itself.

FarmerMom, while I applaud your values, I think that you have to remember that all work and no play makes Johnny a dull boy. That kinda goes for food too. My family eats a lot of wholesome items from apples to zuchini (A to Z... lol...). A treat now and then is just that: a treat.

We did a cookie dough fundraiser last year and did ok, but not as well as we would have liked. Had terrible problems with the distribution and the lesson we learned is to make the parents come and pick it up - don't send it home with the kids.

We used Signature fundraising and the cookie dough (preportioned) was very good. I frankly didn't think we would ever do cookie dough again and we took it off our list of fundraisers for this year. We have a small executive board and we all agreed it wasn't worth it. Then I had a kickoff meeting for the committee chairs and everyone was upset - they loved the dough and thought it was great!

That "Gourmet Cookie Dough" that comes in the plastic tubs sold by EZ Fund (I think--I keep seeing pictures of it flashing up as a banner ad on the forums, but my school doesn't sell it--I bought it through Market Day) is awesome! I bake a lot, but I am hopelessly "cookie challenged" for some reason. I use the cookie dough tubs when we have parties, and people just rave about it.
