PTO Today seems to be bias against PTA?

19 years 11 months ago #75961 by Michelle B

Lest folks forget, we are not the equivalent to the PTA, never claimed to be and don't desire to be. We are a media (covering the parent group world) and a resource (helping parent groups all we can).

Don't sugarcoat it, you're a business that makes money off of non-PTA groups. PTAs may use the site but the PTOs pay for your resources, shows, and NPN, that is where you make your profits. You are biased to PTA, you've admitted to me and several others before that you are. It's fine. I still come here but don't represent it as just a media and a resource and that everyone gets equal treatment. If we promote anything remotely PTA, like the Know More Do More campaign, even though it's another resource with no requests for money, it's not allowed.
Be what you are and own it.

We have done the "ouch"s and the "ugh"s and the "love it"s and the similar casual commentary throughout the blog and throughout the magazine. It's what we do.

It's the media side -- the need to be interesting and well-written and occasionally (when we see fit) strong-opinioned -- that may be confusing matters here.

I encourage all of our writers to have fun and let their personalities show through. I think that's a good thing.

How funny... I never thought of this site as 'not a place for PTA people'. I thought of it as a place for everyone. I know we've all taken a shot at PTA policies, but never at their volunteers. Thing is, I think in our own ways, we've all taken shots at ours and others PTO's as well.

I guess what I'm trying to say is this is a place for us all, regardless of our acronyms. Right?

I don't ever see negative blogs about PTO that include "ouch" in the title. I don't agree with the "coke day" that they were talking about in the article but when fundraising we are all doing something commercial and generally asking people to spend money on something frivolous, unhealthy or of convenience.

If PTA is really as welcome as anyone, can we show a little more respect, please?

So Menzy, PTA's aren't like the song... "Harper Valley PTA".... ;) :D

Oh,you know me, I couldn't resist!

I will admit, I see the same "talk" within the service group we belong to.
