PTO Today seems to be bias against PTA?

That was my point all along – I allowed myself to fall into a debate, that in the long run, just does not matter. Could not have said it better than NMmom.

Now - just share the popcorn, please!javascript:void(0)

Ok.. I will put down the popcorn...
Hey! lets everyone lighten up.... take a deep breath and release.....No matter what the heck your 3 little letters are at the beginning of your group's name is.....We are ALL in it for the same reasons as stated by (NMOM ?) above.

I think (don't hit me please!)we need to stop being so sensitive to a word like "Ouch!". I did go back and look at the BLOG (which I do not usually read, I just go to today's topics) and looked over the articles Tim puts out there. I think he tries to get any type of parent organization article up there for all our information and reading enjoyment- thanks Tim! I am more alarmed at the amount of THEFT articles there are than anything else to tell you the truth.
Come on... can't we all just get along! (I say sheepishly)

I think it is important to remember, no matter our group name we are all here for basically the same reason---to help make our schools better for our children and the children coming up after them.

Wow, what a can of worms. But I got the answer I was looking for. Thank you Tim. I would really appreciate toning it down.

I may be really really naive, but I like pretending there isn't enough difference to discuss it too much. Maybe because I'm lazy and wouldn't dream of trying to revamp my school parent group. Mainly because everything is done by very caring, hard working people.

"Can a few good people work together to make things better? You bet we can!"

I'm so not into the lengthy answers anymore. Few points-

I bet if I was to start a group and call it PTA, the national office would come down on me like white on rice and expect me to pay up!

Penn Treaty American Corporation's goes by PTA, there are PTAs in NYC that have not affiliation, there's a PTA Bank, PTA-Postcard Trader's Association, post and Telecom Administration, etc. I know the the WWF had to change their name to WWE, that's why I said, stood for-not stands for.
I don't really care about the rest of it. If you are unable to sympathize with another group of people, just because they see things differently than you do, that's your problem. Not mine.
