I have come to the conclusion if our PTO is a clique then it is a big one and I invite anyone that wants to be a part of this "clique" to join in because it helps our kids and community and hey someone might accidently make a good friend. ;)

I love to see new posters. I feel that people on here probably get tired of seeing me post. But I REALLY love this site.

I have to tell you, even as a "newbie" here I never felt like one! After a BAD experience on a Wiggles board--DON'T ASK--I was a little nervous about joning the threads here. Once I did, I never regretted it! I've never felt "left out," or out of the loop in any way, and in fact I think most of us try our best to welcome newcomers. In fact I love seeing them--it's another brain to pick!

By the way, I'm a hot, SWF with children in boarding school and scads of money burning a hole in my pocket! YEAH... RIGHT! Maybe if you're a chubby-chaser who's idea of a hot night is managing to stay up for the entire epsiode of the Sopranos! (Thank goodness for my husband)! I'm 39ish, married (and everyone asks what he sees in me!) have two kids, boy 8 and girl 3, and am a stay-at-home mom. I'm the pres of my group, and started this thing of mine to raise money to build a playground and hopefully some community spirit with it. :D

I agree - that could be fun.

Another thought -
I can't remember what the options were for our user profiles. That may be a good place to expand the idea. Just a thought. (I myself don't tend to put too much information in those, but I do read other people's user bios.)

I only found this site about 4 months ago and have had a blast on it. I do check it many times a day for more GREAT ideas.

I post if I feel I have something different to add that hasn't already been added, or I definately start a new thread if I have a questions. . .....where else would I get my answers??????

I'm new to the pto, was vp last year and the members who ran it previously had left the school without passing anything on to us newbies.

Basically this year was run by the seat of our "don't know what we're doing" pants but we've closed the year with over $7000 still in the account vs the $1000 in many previous years so we've considered ourselves successful and can't WAIT for next school year when we'll have a little experience under our belts LOL.

The kids are going to have SO MUCH FUN with the money they've raised!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to all of you for the GREAT ideas and the huge variety of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I was a new poster to this board, I actually revelled in my newness. I read a lot and got to know who the 'experts' were in different areas. I used their info to make our group better and to bring in new ideas and events. Unlike my group at the time, this board did not have a clique-like feeling. I enjoy receiving emails (and phone calls too!) from other posters, but I think a two or three sentence 'this is who I am' statement sounds like fun. We already have a feel for who they are, but this would be even better. Thing is, we come to this board to receive advice and to give advice. As long as we don't get away from that, the main purpose as I see it, I don't think it will hurt. It will just put a newer face on some of the old familiar posters...lol... How about adding a 'getting to know each other' spot under the Free For All catagory? Or maybe a 'poster of the month' or 'expert of the month'? I think it would be great fun, especially during the slower summer months! Anyone else think it's a good idea?
