Just when I was ready to start calling "Marco???"! It's been so quiet on the boards lately ... glad to hear news from everyone. I admit to being in one of those moods like many of you. Along with back to school errands the 'to do' list seems as if it will never end lately. Add in the lack of sleep and its a real party around here.
The executive decision of today will be to relieve all duties from our hanging baskets. The heat has really done a number on them as of last week ... there is just no saving the poor things. On the bright side I can check off watering and dead heading the spent blooms from my daily 'to do' list.
Ever have one of those days where you feel you are on the cusp of something? For some strange reason I have that gut feeling this morning ... well then again it could be hunger from my decision to go with a liquid breakfast ...

d, that sounds absolutely delicious!! I've never made pasta in a food processor, I think one time I explained how to made egg noodles for chicken and noodles, but I do that in a bowl by hand. I'm really in a mood to cook, but it's just too darn hot here to really get the oven going, plus it has to be soft food so I can chew it on the side of my mouth that isn't in excruciating pain. The dentist can't see me until THURSDAY!! More tequila please.

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.

Hey cc and everyone!!!! I know what you mean--I have been in a terrible funk. My husband has been missing in action for so long now, it is WAY too hot to be outside and I haven't had any good grilled food in way too long. Just yukky and too hot and no money to go ANYWHERE. Oh well. I will throw a virtual pool party in about 8 days--that's when they swear the pool will be ready. At least we'll still be excited about it in October. Hopefully global warming will keep us swimming till November--now THERE'S a selfish way to look at the environment :).

Who told me how easy it was to make pasta in the food processor. Mine just didn't mix well and I had to knead it by hand and then I made macaroni that were way to big. Luckily the sauce saved it!!!! This is tremendous if anyone wants to try it (oh you have to like mushrooms) but
Some olive oil in the pan and sautee some garlic...not too much so it doesn't turn brown and bitter.
Add a little butter (just a dab as Paula would say)
Thinly slice and add half an onion (or more if you're in the mood)
Put in about 4 fresh sage leaves and let that all combine and the onion cook in.
Add a TON of mushrooms (either baby portabellos, chantrells, oysters, whatever you like) and let them cook down and release their liquid.
As those cook down add hot broth (either veggie or beef)
Keep working the sauce down to the consistency you like and keep adding broth to build it back up.
Throw in about 1/3-1/2 cup of fresh parm
Toss with your favorite pasta...

YUMMO!!!! I'm telling you!

Anyway--if you are a pasta maker (was it you LUV)...let me know what I did wrong...maybe too much in the processor...just would combine to a ball....

You know when I was looking at that purse, I was thinking of how many cute purses I could buy at Target with that $1000!

Sorry to hear you're so down CC. I'm sure as you get back to a more regular life, that things will start clicking again. Congrats to Shorty on his brown belt, great job!

We did back to school shopping this past weekend. Only have a couple of things left to get. It was tax free weekend in Iowa for clothing, so we got some of that done too. The kids should be pretty well set for school.

I could really use a couple of shots of tequila about now. I have a tooth that is killing me. I'm eating ibuprofen like they're M&M's and praying for the dentist to call me to come to his office early.

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.

Hey Everyone! Just popping in to say "Hi!" We're on the Back To School Express around here too. Shorty and I are going supply/clothes shopping today. Registration is tomorrow. I'll be sure to check out the PTO table. 1st day of school is the 16th.

My subdivision is having a mandatory homeowners meeting next week at the neighbors "pool house". All four officer positions are open. Please. The only thing the association has to do is make sure everyone is following the CCRs and then voting to allow any building/alterations. It's not exactly the altruistic work I like to do in my volunteer endeavors...

Shorty and I were back in Alabama last week. He had a karate test friday night - he not only passed but skipped a belt so now he's a brown belt. He worked very, very hard and he's so proud of himself! I was no where near ready to test but I'm going to keep training..... I was too happy this time to just go and support Shorty as this was his hardest test yet!

LUV ~ $1000 for a purse? That's my entire annual clothes budget! Yikes! I'm glad you had fun in Florida though.

d - So, so sorry about your loss. I'm sure your family made the best possible decisions they could to help her live out the last days of her life with dignity and respect.

I've been lurking the boards a bit this summer. It's nice to see so many new people contributing and some of our old friends reconnecting!

Gosh but this last move has really taken something out of me. I just cannot get it together. I am usually such a positive, uplifting person that can make antyhing work. I guess I didn't know that I didn't have one more move left in me. I'm going to pull it together because I have to ~ people are counting on me. Maybe school and work schedules getting back on track will help me get back on track too.....

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same."
