I guess one day I will come here and find a padlock on the door and an eviction notice, but until then...hows about some nice Holiday wine. There is a winery I used to go to ions ago... (was that in my days of youth? hmmmmmmm at least 25 years ago ) It is called the Brotherhood winery and it is in upstate NY. They make a wine called-what else? - Holiday Wine- that is served up nice an warm. Its sort of a sweet/spicey like apple cider with cinamon sticks taste. On a cold night during the holiday season it is nice and soothing.(But I guess living in the desert is a different story.. but think of a Currier and Ives or Thomas Kincade scene)

No, I don't even think you can buy them here, but then again, we're a desert so a lot of the things that grow, if you can buy them, aren't as good as what you would have in California.
During the holidays, it used to be about pine-nuts for me. But even those aren't as available as they used to be. Pine nuts are yummy!

You never had chestnuts roasted on an open fire? ohhhh they are sooo good... especially after hopping the mid-town direct train into NYC from Jersey during the holiday season - NYC is so so beautiful then and the holiday spirit is in the air all around you. There is hustle and bustle on the streets and giant decorations on just about every street corner.. Anyhooo....usually we buy them from a street vendor. They are so yummy. A nice, mellow nutty taste and they are warm from being freshly roasted. I usually buy some at my grocery store around the Thanksgiving holidays. You cut two cross slits in them and pop em in the oven for about 20-25 minutes on about 350. To me it is a definite part of the holidays up here....
Tiner, we're having unusually cold weather too! It's been 0-8 degrees at night and only gets up to the 20s in the day.
And of course, we watched the day after tomorrow on PPV.
I'd like to know what a roasted chestnut is like too. I've only had them in chinese food as water chestnuts.

I already love salt springs!!! My in-laws found it on their way to visit a friend in Eustis. The RV park where we go is absolutly awesome. I wanted to rent a cabin for christmas but the whole park is full so I guess Santa will be visiting us in a tent!!!(Ha, ha, ha)
I love the couches and pillows all around the place really looks great. That fire is gonna feel good tonight. In the 30's in FL. Strange!
