page two......

Thanks Michelle. I think part of his problem is that he is so smart that he just feels bored and like he is wasting his time. He also is a perfectionist. Which can be good and bad. See I have two perfectionist children - one (my daughter) is the kind who beats up herself when things aren't perfect and my son is the kind who likes to point out the imperfections in everyone else as a way to make himself look superior. Yes, I've studied up on this. The TAG teacher gave me some books to read when we were having some issues with our daughter and I found my son, my sister, and myself in the descriptions too. It helped with my daughter, but my son is tougher. He eavesdropped on a phone conversation I had with my best friend and asked me why I was "telling" on him. I told him I had to have someone to talk to about it because I was at a loss as to what to do. As hard as I tried not to, I started to cry. He ran upstairs and my daughter hugged me then I think went up and lectured him because he was a very different boy when he came down. I think I'm just going to have to be very tough until we can get this attitude problem licked.

Man, have I rambled on or what? Sorry, it just feels good to let it out. I think I need to lie down now. Or cook....anyone hungry for chocolate?

Luv that is SO funny! I too have a 9 year old boy and it's nice to hear things like this. During the election, my son said, "Bush can kiss my butt and lick it too!" Yeah... I was at the school doing the mock election when it happened. Definately not a good thing. I was happy he didn't use the word a**. It would be even better if he just said bottom but he really loves and utilizes the phrase "kiss my butt" regularly despite getting in trouble.
On the other hand, he's smart and funny and he really knows what's up. It is probably not the best that I am a bit sarcastic myself at times.
He's also being tested for GT. I think little boys are funny and I've learned a lot about being an advocate for boys. These are some interesting articles. Perhaps helpful to you.

Throw some onion rings in for me. I had my hot chocolate yesterday, but I'm in the mood for an ice cold beer today. Anyone else have a son who thinks he knows all at 9? He called his whole class a bunch of "bottom heads" yesterday. Yes, those are his exact words. Part of me was grateful that I've instilled in him the inappropriateness(my gosh that's a long word) of using the word "butt", however he's just killing me with the attitude. I dread having a teacher call my name when I come into the school because I'm afraid I'm going to have to listen to another horror story. This has been going on for over a month now. Santa may have a load of sticks and coal for this one this year. Make those onion rings a DOUBLE!

I'm a Pepsi girl through and through. Onion rings I can take 'em or leave 'em but tonight I can take 'em!

I've been reading some of the posts in the coffee talk'n but I just can't do it. It feels forced. Like trying to re-paint a Monet, perhaps the style is there but the feeling lies with the original. I'm much more comfortable here and I guess I'll stay with backhoed till the eviction comes unless we can get a stay of execution from Tim (perhaps leave it as "how it all began")
I've had black walnuts. I actually love nuts in general anyway! Seriously, I'm a cashew girl and being closer to California (we're up in the northern part, closer to Tahoe and Stateline) I can get a few good nuts every once in a while. The veggies don't transfer as well though.

I'd love to visit this winery in NY. Heck, I would love to visit anything back east. We even have a family home in PA that I have never seen. But after that, I think I need to bring you guys with me to the Russian River part of CA and take the winery tour. Then on to Napa. Drink wine and see the countryside. It's fabulous!

I actually went online to print my boarding pass for tomorrow, going to Vegas again! You'd think by now that I wouldn't be afraid to fly but I'm still nervous as heck and since there's a coffee shop for the non-drinkers, I'll take a shot of anything to mellow me out for the flight! Pine nuts??? Don't see those much in Iowa but did have my fill of black walnuts as a kid! They are a much richer, smoother nut than regular walnuts and grew on this huge tree on land my grandparents use to own.

Still would love to have a pepsi with you all...onion rings anyone??

Which winery? There are tons in upstate NY. Then I can have the relatives send me some! And incase you wondered, we are trying to recreate the wonderful flavor of Starbucks coffees and hot chocolates down the street incase you want to join!

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris
