Debbie, we had a group of teachers accuse us of not playing fairly because 3 of 4 of the parents at the beginning of the year had children in one class. Funny thing was, different people tallied them and turned their results in to one person. I'll be honest, there is nothing that will chase away the few parent volunteers than accusing them of cheating/lying. We actually were asked not to run these contests since the teachers were more competive than they need to be. I felt like it was the pot calling the kettle black. Needless to say, our group didn't really want anything to do with those teachers the rest of the year, but one of the them is the principal's favorite.

Just wanted to say thank you, I received your envelope. My son's class has won the contest for this semester by over 800 items!!! I heard some rumblings about the fairness since both myself and out PTA treasurer have kids in the class. I told them, hey, work your connections and do what I do. I have the labels, boxtops, etc. I am looking for posted on three different boards plus I used to work at one of the grocery stores that we save receipts from. I have a cashier/friend that saves those for me. We have lots of families who have relatives saving boxtops, etc for them and mail to them occasionally.
I like your idea, closetwriter, of a thread where we can post our addresses and people can send items that we collect and they don't. Let's start one this fall.

Hey Scottmom, glad to hear you're doing well. Your mom sounds like a hoot--making a certificate!

I am home from the hospital. My surgery went very well. It's funny to think how much pain I was in at times before because I'm barely in that much pain now after the procedure. My biggest problem is that I can't lift more than 10 pounds and my "baby" weighs around 30. My mom made me a certificate on her computer that said something to the affect of 2nd largest gall stones Dr. Park had removed. She told me it should go next to my pictures of the school carnival and my latest report card since they are the main reasons I waited so to get this done. Anyway, thanks for all the well wishes.

Thank you all very much. I am trying very hard to sleep b/c I have to leave for the hospital at 5:30AM but my mind keeps wandering. I too come here to let other's problems make me feel better about my situation. I am trying to look on the bright side, tomorrow I will be on so much pain medicine that I won't care!
