page two......

I've never been to a high school reunion. I figure if I haven't talked to someone in 20 years, I probably don't want to talk to them now. High school wasn't exactly the best time for me. It was just something I had to get through to get on with the rest of my life.

My husband never went to a high school reunion but we went to his 5 year college reunion. It was OK but not so great, I guess, since we never went to another one.

My town had 6 high schools = 4 public, 1 Catholic and 1 Lutheran. My school was where the "rich kids" went. (Someone forgot to tell my dad that because we were not rich!) My husband's school was the "violent, race war, wrong side of the tracks" school but they turned out more National Honor Society students than any of the others. ????? Remember about six years ago when Jesse Jackson got involved in the fight at Eisenhower High School in Decatur, IL and made a huge national spectacle of it all? That's where my husband went.......

Thank God for that great 80s hangout - the mall - or I probably never would've met my husband!

I enjoy going to my husband's reunions too. The people are all really nice and a lot of fun and we have more in common with them. At MY last reunion I got an award for having the youngest child. They gave me a diaper and some wipes. I stood there wondering if it was supposed to be funny, because if it was, they needed a new script writer. They also gave an award for the most children, you can imagine the joke there. Two women had 7 each. One had that many because she had adopted her sister's 4 children after she went to jail for murder. Real tasteful, huh? The folks at our table clapped like crazy for her because we knew how special she is.

Now to reimbursements-our treasurer had them done, it's just that the amount of time it took her to pay you appeared to be based on how much she liked you. I waited a loooonnnnggg time.

Well, you'll get this one- I went to a public school and heard SO MUCH about the catholic school girls! Then when I met my husband and he heard of my hometown he was...excited! Then I burst his bubble when I told him that I ddin't go to THAT school!!!

The hubby got his save this date card last week for our 20th next year. I'm excited about his because I love his buddies, they are so much fun. Mine, not so much. Everyone I want to see is teaching oversees or has no desire to go to a reunion. He did tell me he would rather fly here and spend a day or two together which would be great! But you know, another event to rehash whom dated who and who had the first baby. Oh that was funny. My best friend and double to the prom took forever to get ready to go to the after prom and after graduation we...okay I... knew why! Her daughter will be 20 next year.

aaaahhhhh the moments we just want to forget!

mykidsmom, are you living in a universe parallel to mine? Our treasurer did the SAME things. I have the books and records and am taking them to an auditor this week. It was such a huge relief to get them(she did not want to let go-we had to quote bylaws and get quite rude). There are some definite control issues there.

Our school had no motto, although it was known for having promiscuous girls(NOT THIS ONE)-really something to be proud of, huh? We have a class reunion coming up and I really have no desire to go. I was the quiet, shy, studious girl that kind of hung in the background. I had great friends, but after college(that is for the VERY few that went) we all kind of lost touch and moved on. Is that strange? I know some people go nuts about class reunions, but I really don't care.
