Burma Shave
Free — free / a trip to Mars / for 900 / empty jars / Burma-Shave
One respondent, Arlyss French, who was the owner of a Red Owl grocery, did submit 900 empty jars; the company replied: "If a trip to Mars you's earn, remember, friend, there's no return." After he collected 900 more jars for the return trip, the company sent him on vacation to Moers (near Duisburg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany).

As befits such an important part of American culture, one set is preserved by the Smithsonian Institution. It reads:
Shaving brushes
You'll soon see 'em
On a shelf
In some museum
Burma-Shave

Funny, I've never owed a Ford. Just looking at the car made me want my Camaro back just to try to spank it. I got it down the 1/4 in 11.01 sec. and my husband managed a 10.88.....I really miss that gas guzzler and all the time and energy we put into making ours. When my oldest started school and the teacher asked what his parents did, he said fix and drive race cars because that's what he saw us do. Needless to say, I was a financial planner and my husband is a toll collector, pretty far from NASCAR if you ask me! Of course, we all still fit in a camaro back then and now we need more seats.

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

Ford's gearing up (Pun intended) for lackluster sales.... too make the story short 87 TX Ford dealerships along with 100,000 petitioners asked Ford to not support controversial issues/group because especially in TX sales were/are down almost 15% and the dealers are tired of espaning They arent (dealers) sending $$$ to support gay rights and others (Ford does)....

Fords doing a big race/ come see our car campaign-- 'cuz there boards views and $$$ is killing their bottom line (Proctor and Gamble soon too)

So we were running some erands today and happened to drive by the Ford dealership and they had a Shelby GT500 on show. It's headed to the race track for some event tomorrow. Almost makes me want to trade in the old SUV so I can hit the track again...
