My husband has a friend that says (all the time, with the twang, it's annoying) - You cain't hide money!"

Well maybe you can't hide it but you don't have to put it up on a pedestal and flash a spotlight on it either. And nothing is more annoying than people go so far as to attach the special speakers with the looping mantra, I'm stupid but I'm rich, I'm stupid but I'm rich.....

crew chief, my soulmate!! welcome to modern day america.

ref H1 H2 H3s ( who dont even fit into garages so people violate HOA rules and even IF it fits, cuz you have a H , you dont park it where no one can see it, right??? that would be a 'waste', and i understand some bridges cant take 2 hummers passing on another without the rearview mirrors snapping off)
ya GOTTA read this book: AFFLUENZA; dont remember the author, but its at the public library.

the message is, if youve purchased a Hummer, you have 'arrived'. if 'it' is worth arriving to, is another matter altoghter.

i say, if youre in the miltary on business, an H is just fine. if youre a taxi mom or dad, its just a tad over the top. and for my money, i would by a beemer and live in germany whre there are no speed laws on highways.

Yesterday was officially the 16th day of school. I made it over two weeks! These drama teachers are two smart women. This is only the 2nd year for a drama program and they are working hard to get it established. They're doing a lot with their own money and free time. If they're this dedicated and the kids are having so much fun then we parents should support them in every way possible.

OK - I think I've lived in enough towns to make these general observations:

1. No matter how clear the drop off/pick up procedures are, there are always a handful of parents who completely disregard them. "Oh no, please, go right ahead. Clearly you are the only one running late for work (again!) today."

2. At least one parent will see every contact with the teacher as their own private parent/teacher conference. Some even go so far as to treat you like the rude person if you get too close while they're talking. "Hello! We're here to talk about the xyz program, not about why princess needs extra attention in language arts."

3. The parents who try to make the biggest show of having money give the least amount to the fundraisers. "If you can hop in your H2 and drive an hour to the next town over to buy the $160 Nike Air 360s for junior you can drop a few extra dollars into the till."

4. There are always parents who shamelessly promote princess and junior and demand that they be given consideration over all of the other 600 students at the school. "Hey, if princess and junior are that great, let them make their own way, even (horrors) fail a few times so they get a glimpse of the real world!"

Sheesh - I think I need another cup of coffee.....

Man do we need someone to edit our newsletters... ready for this-
"Soup bowls are needed for the empty bowels program"
Yes, that was to support our homeless shelter. For the EMPTY BOWLS SOUP LUNCH.
A little embarrassing, a lot funny.

Like the new profile. Mine would be "Poor High Class Debt Lover" .... should have asked if they take credit cards for school lunch.
I have no musical IQ- just love a lot of that country. Female vocalist are my fav.
Shawn, you are caring for mom-in-law? Is this long term? Hope all is well.
I have been caring for my hubby for 3 years. It's hard when someone has medical issues- distracting from kids and their needs (but it sure makes it easier to say NO to more mtg's & committments)

I'm sorry I ever questioned your musical IQ Shawn. You more than anyone here would know the difference between Bob Seger and Pat Green - even though they're both very cool, blonde, handsome, bluesy, mmmmmmmm.

Oh, am I in trouble. The drama teachers held a parent/student meeting tonight. They need stage equipment, props, volunteers, funding. The list goes on and on. What they need is a Drama Booster Club. No, I'm not going to start one, or lead one, or, Oh Crap! Who am I kidding. Of course I am. For now though, I'm just signed up for concessions and props. It's a slippery slope though and I'm definitely sliding!!!!

Who wins the involvement pool?
