Hmmmm Good question. I'm a vegetarian for health reasons alone. If I go somewhere and they're serving meat, I eat it. It's an occasional indulgence.
Close friends and family know about my choice and accept it - tease me relentlessly, but accept it.
I think your friend should have told you rather than appear to 'snub' your food. You actually gave her the oppotunity to respond within the discussion you were having.

Question -- if a friend is vegetarian -- would you be more upset if they didnt tell you and didnt eat or they didnt ask (or inform you) they were.
I have no problem with normal vegetarians, ecological minded people or other issued people -- its the extreme views, actions, reactions...
