THUMP! THUMP! THUMP!
For those of you not familiar with the sound that is me banging my head against the wall.
Why oh why do I care so much and want to be an involved parent? Damn my value system!

I'm in a Bunco group too and Tacky Bunco would be right up our alley-the more outrageous the better. The last time I hosted I did it with a Let's Make a Deal theme. Everyone stuffed giant purses with everything they could think of and I acted as Monty Hall asking for odd things. I also had wrapped boxes and envelopes numbered 1, 2, 3 and called people up to select.

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.

d - you're too much fun! Tacky Bunko - my fun friend M would like that idea!!!

The questions game is really easy. We actually only got through five or six questions for each person because there were 13 of us and it was taking a long time. Each question sparks a 5 minute conversation, which is fun and the real point of the game, but takes time. About a week before ask each player to write questions about themselves and email them to you. Questions should be like:

How many kids do I have?
Where was I born?
What's my favorite movie ever?

Then at the party, each person has a dry erase board or note pad. The MC says, "This question is about Jane. She wonders if you know how she likes her eggs." Everyone writes their answer and then all show it at the same time. Jane then awards 0, 1 or 2 points to each player based on the accuracy of their answer: 0 - not even close (over easy); 1 - mostly right (scrambled); 2 - extra credit for knowing exactly and maybe even a little more (scrambled with cheese and onions). At the end of the game, the person with the most points wins.

Love that contest idea...I'll have to do that for bunco ... I did tacky bunco last time I hosted and it was a hoot. Everyone dressed as tacky as they could and then had to write down a tacky fact about themselves and we all guessed who it was (one woman admitted to changing all of the votes for most likely to succeed when she was high school yearbook editor so she'd win). First place was a lawn flamingo, second was 3 years of my Christmas letters, and 3d was a picture of me ;) . I served tacky appies like frito pie, ring dings...the card tables had left over halloween candy on them...it was a hoot...anyway--I'm figuring out how to do this with the questions.

LUV - What great kids you have. You must be doing something right!!! Thanks for sharing a great Holiday story.

GaMom - You and my hubby can start an MIL from Hell club. He's not very fond of his either...

dlf - I wish I knew the answer to your question. I, too, wish I could snap my fingers and have all of the Christmas decorations pack themselves up neatly into the attic. Your boys sound awesome.

Ooooo, I won a contest at the family party. I never did get a sweatshirt made because we ran out of time. We bought cheesy Disney sweatshirts and wore them. But I won the Who Knows Us Best? game. Each member had to write 10 questions about themselves. SIL read the questions and we had to write the answers on dry erase boads. I won! The prize? A 3x5 photo album/easel that SIL put family pictures in. It's very neat. Next year is my turn to host so that means I've already started planning...

We're back home and tomorrow it's back to reality with work, school, etc. Vacation was fun but we're all ready to get back into a routine!

Really nice CC...
Okay--why oh why do I take 4 days to put UP the Christmas stuff and then think for some reason I should be able to take it down in one. I mean I've been working with the boys for 4 solid hours (that's 20 man hours total) carrying 47 santa's, 8 different boughs of lights and garlands, 15 boxes of ornaments, nicknacks and Christmas revelry downstairs and I'm blinking exhausted. So NOW I have to redress the upstairs, clean up from all the dust and stuff that has dropped out of things and I'll be dadgoneit if I don't see a basket of stuff I've missed (hanging over the door).
Argh--THIS is why it only comes once a year....Happy New Year....
