also about your Movie license- check with your district-- most get a yearly license which covers the schools in their district-- just call the mail dsitrict office and they can check for you-- or you can check with the licensing company... they can look up your school and tell you if you have a license or not.

CARS is rated G and is a great Movie for kids-- it just came out a few weeks back-- we are getting ready to show it in December and the kids are very excited about it-- we are also adding a giveaway at the event-- a Large popcorn basket with the CARS movie in it, plus microwave popcorn abd Movie candy.
I also always put the rating after the the Movie title we are showing on the flier that the way teh parents have a choice to come or not to ...

We showed Over the Hedge earlier this month. I made sure it was known that the movie was rated PG. Since the movie was an evening event, and since children had to be accompanied by an adult, we felt it was up to the parents to decide if the movie was suitable... just like the real theaters. The parents had the choice, and it was entirely up to them.
We had not one comment about the movie being PG.

Firstly, we assume that parents will check out what the movie is about before they bring their children. Especially if they are particular about what they allow kids to see. Since these are big screen movies, usually everyone knows what it's about.

However, we showed Narnia as a kickoff to our summer enrichment program last year and made sure we put plenty of disclaimer about the content may not be suitable for the younger children.

We've had a couple of parents concerned about showing PG, but when the vote went to one of these, the families didn't allow their children to partipate and go to those shows. They understand that not everyone will get what they want. They're probably some of the best parents out there! They didn't allow their children to come, but mom came into help us with our concessions.

You can either purchase a one time license which runs about $75 or an annual license. The going rate is around $340 - but their are some discounts available (i.e. we have several elementaries in our district which purchase)

Even if you get the annual, I'd wait until very close to your first date. That way you're covered for a year and gives you more date opportunities for the future.

Tim...how long is the movie license good for. We have never done a movie night but are doing one this February. So when should we get it oh wise one...
