Willy Wonka Movie Night

Some people are just idiots. There is nothing wrong with putting out a donation jar - if they don't like it walk by it.

We put a box up when we gave out free cupcakes for everyone at an event. We made more than we did the year we charged for them.

We always put out donation jars at our chili supper, and have never had any complaints. I think you just are always going to have some of "those" people. Just realize that you did nothing wrong, and that you can't please everybody all of the time.

This is such a great idea!!!!! I would love to do this at our school!!

deemariemcp, I don't understand why anyone would be uspset by a donation jar. You are giving them hot dogs, popcorn and drinks. The only thing they paid for was chocolate bars for a $1.00?? I would feel guilty NOT making a donation. Some people!

We just had a family movie night and we showed WIlly Wonka and it was very successful. - Almost too successful. We usually have about 120 people or so show up for our events and almost 250 people came. We served complimentry hot dogs, popcorn from a popping corn stand we rented and drinks. We ran out and got 200 more hot dogs. We sold 200 chocolate bars for a $1 each and hide 5 golden tickets. The prizes were a copy of the book and a gift certificate. We could have sold at least twice that. We did do one thing that a lot of people are very angry about. We put out a donation jar and we have gotten some really upset parents. So my question is, have any of you put out a donation jar and how did your parents react. I did not expect the reaction that the donation jar generated.

To put the golden tickets in the Wonka Bars I used a sharp knife to cut just under the seal on the backside of the bar. You will understand better when you see one. I slid the ticket inside and the folded the seal back over where I slit the wraper open. Just make your tickets a little smaller.

One of our school families had the movie. We used a large sheet hung over a large bar for a screen. We are a K-8 school and fortunately a couple of our 8th grade boys are techies and set the LCD player and DVD player up to show the movie. You could probably hang a large sheet from a ceiling or on a wall. I bet you could get it through Amazon if you can't find someone who has the movie. We didn't charge admission so we would not violate our licensing agreement.

Hope that helps.
