I would LOVE to try this idea. Unfortunately, our district's Director of Child Nutrition Services is a parent at our school so it would never get approved.

We don't charge anything for this event. They walk in get their coffee or milk and eat as many donuts as they want. Lots of free refills on coffee and we give them the lids so they can take it to go. It cost us around $250 to put this on. I think we'll look into maybe pre selling some donuts next year. We have a Krispy Kreme fairly close so I'm not sure if that would impact sales.

Our Donuts with Dad is always an unbelievable success. We usually have to run to the store and pick-up more. We do it on the last day of our book fair. It gives Dads the chance to spend time with their child, talk with administration & teachers, and even buy the kids a book. The DWD is a PTO sponsored event--we usually send bare shelves back to Scholastic after this event. The Dads spend 3 times more at bookfair than Moms do during Muffins with Mom!

It important to remember not to exclude children without "Dads". We make sure our invitations states any special man. We actually get several granddads at our event.

Thanks for all of the input about Donuts with Dads. I was thinking our school would do this as a PTO sponsored event, and not a fundraiser. It sounds like we should have the Dads RSVP though so we know how many donuts to buy. The Krispy Kreme in town went out of business, so we will also need to get another source for the donuts. Thanks for the help.

Do you use Donuts for Dads as a fundraiser or is it free and the parent group pays for it?
