i would call some local restaurants that offer muffins etc and see if they could donate some muffin and pastry trays, call the local grocery store and see if they could supply some fruit and juices to help defer some of the cost... If all of this fails i would call on a local realtor and see if they are interested in helping the PTO sponsor this 'back to school breakfast..
good luck!

What was your menu? Can you do something cheaper there? I'm not much of a cook either but scrambled eggs are easy!! I have some really easy frittata recipies, sounds great right? Basicaly fancy scrambled eggs with cheese, potatoes, etc... Toast is a no brainer. What about the donation your principal was going to make? Let us know how this works out.

I am happy to say that we just found out our school went form a "c" to an "A"... ya for the kid's ... ya for the teacher... ya for the parents thay all worked hard for it.

I was so happy when the principal call me to his office to tell me the new's.. Then we started to talk about the welcome back muffins and coffie that pto brings into the school the day befor school starts. we also set up volunteer to help the staff clean and set up there rooms. Wile we were talking about the muffins and coffie, someone I think it was him, had said it would be so nice if we could do a big welcome back breakfast this year because we are a "A" school.
Just in "talk" I said I thought it would be great, it would realy show the staff how much we cair about them, but I also said that pto was starting this school year off with less funds than we normaly do...the principal said that maby he could look at his personal finaces and give pto a donation to help out.. I said I would talk to the board (at our school the pto board decides everything about pto no one person can make a pto decision) and we could take a vote on it. He asked if I would call some cater and get some prices? I said I could do that and I would call him tomorrow with the prices, I also said I would call the pto board and see if the pto board would pass the breakfast.

I call the next day, and befor I could get a word out of my mouth, he said that the guest list just went for 100 to 110 because HE called the school board and told them about the great catered breakfast that pto was giving to the staff at the school and HE asked them to come... having a great deal of respect for our principal I can let him look bad in front of the school board (the pto board agree's we can't let him look bad in front of the school board) but the prices we were quoted we to high for our pto....

Do you have any ideas on how to pull this off with our spending all of our money? or leting any one down?

p.s. I am much better at organizing an event than I am at cooking  (MY hubby said if it was not for take out, well you know the rest...ha ha)
