We've gotta opening at our school-- in SoCal!

That stinks as adults we should know better and introduce ourselves to every face even if their not NEW.

As above post dont get discouraged-- change in cultrue, attitude, manners occur in babysteps (or walk softly and carry a big stick)

Welcome to the boards here- a goo dplace to vent, glean information, and comune witht he rest of us Childrens Education addicts.

Welcome a(board) PUN intended (albeit a bad one)

Oh Mama - I'm so sorry for what you experienced! Your PTO should be ashamed of themselves!

Please, please, please don't let them take away your excitement at wanting to be involved in your childs school. Go to the next meeting and make some noise! Sign up for something! Better yet, take another new mom and go together - consider it backup!

Just don't let them intimidate you. Working for your childs school and knowing how you have contributed will enrich your childs school career in inmeasurable ways!

Best of luck - and go kick some cliquey PTO mommy b$*ts! :D

PTO reminds me of high school except this time I am not one of the popular crowd.
My child started Kindergarten this year and I was very excited to attend my first PTO meeting. What a disappointment! I walked into the room and was not acknowledged by anyone. I accidentally sat at the table where the Board, Chairs and seasoned members sit and was completely ignored by everyone around me. When I sat down, not one person looked in my direction, talk about intimidating. Even when volunteer sheets were being passed around, the woman next to me had the nerve to reach over me and pass the sheet to the woman on my other side. I could go on, but most of you probably get what I mean.

Isn’t the purpose of the PTO to bring the school, family and community together?
I was a very active preschool parent and thought I would do the same for elementary school. But I am so disgusted by this group, it breaks my heart. All I want is to be contribute to my child’s educational experience. I had heard that PTO’s were cliquey, but did not expect it to be this bad!
