Who has the best Santa Shop?

UPDATE: Holiday Shop 2005!

Our shop this year has been updated and will contain:
***200 Assorted Gifts for Mom, Dad, Siblings, Grandparents, Teachers and Other Special People.

I started buying over the summer this year to take advantage of all the sales as they appeared. Prices range from $0.25 to $5.00 this year, due to requests for slightly more pricey items. I also added 20 holiday-themed giftware items such as tin stocking candleholders, enamelware, better figurines, etc. to be sold at the School Preview Night. The company from which we purchased the giftware also donated 1400 pieces of product from discontinued product lines, most of which we'll be able to offer as well.

Full-Size Scholastic Book Fair
Adding an additional yearly book fair to the holiday shop was a big success last year. We earned about $800 on the sales of books, plus we were able to sell the books to teachers and our underpaid volunteers for 50% off as a freebie. It helps fill in cracks for the kids that want to give a book to a teacher, parent or friend without us having to buy anything upfront. You can call your regional rep and request the "premium half-price sale", which you can either sell at full price, or half price, which would be your cost.

I have added a couple of wholesale contacts this year, so if anyone wants more info, or wants to buy together with us (NE Ohio only, please), just post a request, or drop me an email. Thanks!!

I would love the details as you offered below. Thanks!
Cathy

I have found several national companies that provide items suitable for a santa shop, most of them offer 10-30 day net payment terms to schools and PTA/PTO's, so that you can pay for your items after your shop has ended (great if you have a limited budget). A couple of them have full web access for ease in ordering. The wholesale prices at these sites are 50-75% less than prices at the santa shop companies, and you have total control over prices, quality, selection, etc.

Combine items from these sources with a trip to the dollar store (and/or donations or purchases from local merchants), create a selection of 100 items and you have built a santa shop!

If you want a list of these companies, email me for the details

Hello Everyone! Our school has enjoyed great success with Gifts 'N Things (I think they are located in either Kutztown or Fleetwood, PA).

We had always purchased our own products, however when we switched to this company, we were very pleased! They were very helpful and we had very positive feedback on the price points and product quality. The best thing (in my opinion) was our re-orders were always there the next day and we did not have any backorders!

As a SupportiveMom, it was a very pleasant experience!

The best one I have done for 4 YEARS is Fun Services. They make everything easy. We even use them for our end of the year Honor Roll Day. We use the field day stuff. Good Luck.

I'm not saying that the needier children shouldn't get an extra coupon. I was just responding to the statement by nicnic:

we are a Title 1 school with 350 students, he has agreed to give EVERY student a 50 cent voucher so that everyone can participate. (we dont mark up the items, it is just for fun with us) PLUS he agreed to give extras so we can give them to the more needy students. (Actually they will "win" them in a drawing, but we feel these kids need an extra boost of confidence).

I may agree with most of the statement, but no matter how you look at it, if the less fortunate 'win' them, a confidentiality clause will be broken. No matter how you look at it, kids who have more than one coupon or coupons for more $ than anyone else, again the confidentiality clause will be broken. I think that if it got out that your parent group knew who these kids were, there might be some 'pride issues' from the parents of those same children.

I was really just wanting to know how you got around it because maybe we could do it too. The fact is that there isn't a way around it... that may be why our district won't allow it...
