Yearbook Challenge

I can't believe that a parent feels they have the right to criticze what other parents are doing. Now, if the committee is a complete mess and they don't produce an appropriate product, well then maybe there is room for some stepping-in. It sounds like "it is about the kids" and the committee is doing everything o.k.

Negativity really makes me disapointed in humanity... why are some people always looking for a fight, or something to complain about, or sticking their noses in just for the purpose of annoying others????? These types need to get a life. They should take the same energy and time to look at what is going on inside their own homes. They should start there before they grace us with their superiority.

Wow! It's nice to see so much interest but too much negativity. Our school had a similar situation with a parent signing the photo release as a no. Simple right? The parent requested another release and re-wrote it. It was very complicated and also did not want anyone other that adminstration to know the new "rules". Well how do you follow thru respecting their wishes without giving out the release info?
We did get it done successfully and the parent has moved onto to the next school. I try to learn a lesson from all experiences and with this one it was more about looking at the whole school community and what I add to it. Because it is really all about the kids.

Thank you all for your input... good things to consider! If anyone does have a policy/notice (either school or parent group) regarding inclusion in the yearbook I would appreciate reading it. We do have one, but maybe there is a more appropriate one out there.

There was no "hearsay" or "gossip" or "rumors" invloved. Cut and dry - the parent made the requests/demands to the school, the school informed the yearbook committee - nothing in between.

MMH the way its about kids' message reads it is clear the issue was not knowing which kids to take pics of (or not to) but this:

"...the headache happened when all year, they changed their opinion numerous times on if the student would be or not be, or how, or where... a organizational nightmare for the committee! "

And as you correclty pointed out yourself, it shouldnt have been a headache at all, with ” I agree, you sign a form at the beginning of the year and it does not need to be discussed again.”

Which was my point too, or one of them, so it seems we later post-ers are all in agreement there it seems. No relaxing needed, thanks all the same!!

i wonder how your school handles all the fairs and classroom parties, and paretns toting video cameras, cell phone cameras and old fashioned cameras, and informing them ahead of time of which kids they cant photograph. must be one nightmare enforcing that one.

If a parent comes to another parent, a volunteer, directly with such a concern about a yearbook matter, refer them to management/staff, LUV has the right idea.

If its hearsay you are basing your conclusion on, most likely its untrue or skewed.

We all know from childhoodand even adulthood how talk/words change quickly and easily from one person to the next, or can easily be misinterpreted when taken out of context.

I would say, if yuo didnt hear the compliant from the alleged SOURCE, chances are, its not true.

And since folks seem to like quotes these days, and have been submitting some great thoughts, heres one I like:

The least initial deviation from the truth is multiplied later a thousandfold. Aristotle
