Target Rocks!

Gee. I am always suspicious about people who rant, yet never bother to register.

Okay folks. Not every fundraiser is going to be the perfect fit for all. If you have to drive 80 miles to get to the nearest Target, it's not worth the gasoline!

Our school happens to be near an urban area where there are stores such as these.

As for selling information... I've had the Target charge for 2 years and have not received more than the normal amount of telemarketer calls, or solicitations for my published phone #.

These shop'n earn programs will probably never be a huge fundraiser with our school. But you can't totally snub a program that will cut a check to your school, that didn't involve any volunteer commitment, trimming soup labels, or frazzling out your volunteers. And Target is one place our parents definitely shop at.

Sorry to cause such a rant-fest.

Target also sells your information. You may think opting out when you apply for their credit card makes you safe but it doesn't! This was taken right from their privacy policy. So unless you like getting tons of junk mail and telemarketing phone calls, then it's not worth the hassle for 1 or 1/2 percent plus interest.
They state they won't share your info except your contact information?? Then what in the world does opting out achieve??

Effect of Opting Out

· Within the Target Family. If you opt out, we will not share the following information within the Target family:

· Information from your account application, other than identification and contact information

· Information from third parties

· Outside the Target Family. If you opt out, we will not share information with companies outside the Target family, except:

· Companies we hire to provide marketing support services

· Companies we partner with for joint marketing

· As permitted or required by law, for example, to process transactions, service accounts, report credit history to credit bureaus, or prevent fraud

We hardly get anything from target. Read the fine print and you will see that you're better off just giving your school a donation than to put items on the CHARGE card to get hardly anything back for the school. What a scam.

We don't have a Target in our city but travel 70 miles when we want to shop at the nearest one. I tried to get them to donate a doorprize for our carnival but they declined. As large as they are I was disappointed they would at least give us a $25 gift card. Its not worth the 70 mile drive anymore!!

I don't feel comfortable with a company that tells me "Apply for our credit card and pay our intrest rate and will give 1/2% of your purchase to your school."
Sorry folks- I agree Kmart has it's hang-ups but I don't have to carry THEIR credit card. I was fully explained scripts this past week and I have a hard time with that too but that's me.

Here in Colorado a new Super Target opened, I'll admit I did go in but was furious paying 12% (8.5% for the city and 3.5% state) in TAX, sure a minut percent will go to the school but...

Momski, I happy Target rocks for you, they don't for our school.

Every once in a while I like to check out our progress with the Target program. We make sure to put in our newsletter how much we have received from Target each time we get a check.
