Be aware! Target gives only 1/2% if you use it outside of target. Box Tops visa gives 1% EVERYWHERE. Plus they have a 50 bonus box tops certificate for anyone who applies on line and uses the card just once.

Sorry to hear about your problem with Target.

Everyone has the same problem educating parents on shop & earn programs. You have to practically stop them at a school function, take their name and number and keep bugging them.

In every newsletter that goes out from our PTO, I remind them of the shop&earn programs. Remind them point blank... If they don't designate YOUR school, the corporation WILL designate ANOTHER SCHOOL.

JUST A REMINDER.. (a pet peeve of mine) if you're starting a new topic (K-mart) please start a new thread. thanks!
K-mart also has it's problems.

I Disagree, here is what happened to us recently -This is what my EScrips person just wrote today to us -
"Some very disappointing news to report. We will not be receiving any of the money (about $1000) that should have been dispersed from Target to the old School account in September. We closed that joint elementary/middle School account on August 6, and on Aug. 9 letters were sent to 390 people telling them the "school closed"--this was Target's wonderful way of wording it It asked them to call Target to designate a new school. Of those people only 19 people have changed their account to include the Elementary (14) and the Middle (5). He was amazed at their lack of response.
I have been trying to get Target to send the money from our old account for about 2 weeks. They said it was on hold until those people changed their account. I pleaded and begged and said we were never told that because of the timing of the change, that the money would not be dispersed. I felt that the funds up to Aug. 6, should have come to us! The rep. finally agreed to meet with his supervisors. He called me today, and said he was in error. All the September money is gone, reabsorbed by Target, because those people didn't call them. He was very apologetic, said they are making changes in the information they give to schools that make changes in their account. He said what could they do to help us? I said I knew they would not give us the money, but that it was money we had in our budget and were counting on to help our students. But I wasn't going to beg for any other stuff. I said I wanted to have them make sure that they never did this to another school. They should have advised us to wait 3 weeks. then we would have gotten the check, and then we could have changed our accounts. He did say that last year at the time it became 2 schools we should have immediately notified Target of the change. I had a letter waiting to send to Target Corp.pending his meeting with the supervisors- but now I just feel it is hopeless to continue. I can only hope that people will read the newsletter and will designate DCMS on their Target cards, and do all the other stuff to help us recoop the funds. So far, I am disappointed in our parents response to the other ways to help.--

I wondered about Kmart and all the personal information they wanted my to fill out for one of their cards. I passed on it. Then my son brought home from school an envelope containing the Kmart cards and their letter of instruction. Kmart had supplied everything for each student, including extra cards to give to relatives. I didn't have to give them any personal info. Thus, I try to use the card when I shop there. (Although .01 percent seems like a pretty small payback for what little I buy there.)
