Sounds like a good reason to have a Donuts with Dad event. Especially if it were done on a monthly basis..

Funny you ask....There is more. While discussing the main issue a letter from a parent was read to the mom concerning that day. The letter was so full of.....lies (that's the PG word!) that the mom was outraged! THis letter also accused the mom of stealing from the new kitchen at school. Now I have known this mom for 5 years and know that A. she would NEVER go into the kitchen with out someone knowing or without a friend let alone steal something and B. she works for the county court system, she couldn't lie about her age if she could! There were a few other hurtful things that this parent and her child had in the letter that is now being looked at.
Once that was on the table and the facts were out, both sides wished they had spoken to each other sooner.

p.s. this is the 2nd run in or compaint from the PTO Board to the Principal concerning the mom that wrote the letter. SHe is the head of the kitchen staff, in a nut shell- we will NEVER get to have a Donuts with Dad as long as she is there because it will take way from HER breakfast profits! NIce

That is great news, mykids--but I have to admit, my curiousity has gotten the better of me; this whole thing seemed so bizarre. How did it get resolved? Guess the Prez isn't banned anymore, for one.

Wonderful News!!!!!! After a two hour meeting both sides have resolved and not only did I have a President to run the meeting but both felt really bad that I had been in the middle.

Thanks again everyone for listening and keeping my head straight!!!

Thanks Dave and Mum....you both brought up something I should have known but that's why we are here right? I should remind the Principal I am ACTING Prez~ not THE Prez.

Dave, you also brought up something that my husband did. What if the Principal's "favorite" volunteer just walked away right now (me) then what would she do? I should mention the Principal has apologized to me many times (yeah this has happened a few times) but it is getting very old. Also this mom thinks the school is harrassing her and possible slander of her good name. That's the reason for calling a lawyer.

Well, we have a meeting tonight so I need to think positive thoughts and work on my voice (it's GONE...stress of all things ;) ). Rather have mac'n'cheese and work on homework with the kids - getting good at doing pre Algebra and 1st grrade math!

Wish me luck tonight  :(

I am siding with Mum here. Until the current president resigns or is removed, she is the president of the PTO.

It doesnt matter what the Principal calls you or the school thinks. Please be careful, because there are certain legal implications.

Removing her name as contact for cerain activities is fine. But anything that requires the signature of the president put on hold until this matter is resolved and you are in fact acting President.

It is obvious that she will eventually be removed, why she would want to contact a lawyer over this other than the school may press charges against her for the activity at her home is beyond me. If you are not wanted in a volunter position then resign and tell her for me I said so! It is apparent that she has lost the support of the principal and the teachers without it she will be ineffectual in any role.
