Executive board falling apart

Well I had my meeting. It went OK. I tried to stay calm and nonchalant. The secretary on the other hand just dug her heels in on the most petty things. Her husband who is the treasurer tried to mediate and divert her somewhat. She needs to learn to pick her battles more wisely. If anything, by me remaining calm it only made her look worse. It has been that the president and the secretary work together to set the upcoming agenda. However I had the other officers help with this as well. That helped. I do not want to work one on one with this lady for quite some time. The sad thing is that this has taken away the excitement I once had in serving the school and kids. Any ideas to gain this back?

I have found what works for me (been in yur shoes a few times!!) The Eagles 'Hell Freezes Over' cd has a song called "get Over It" a GREAT way to boost your confidence and INSIDE your mind tell these people to just get over themselves! No. I could NEVER look at these women and tell them to get over it but Don Henley puts it so well in the song! I have honestly worn out my CD!!

Otherwise, a long time ago a poster said "that person has to look at themselves in the mirror. Knowing that and who you are inside and what you stand for will help you get through this" I gave up a long time ago trying to figure out why a Mom in our group is so against me in everyway!
Hang in there....think about this, what do you tell your kid(s) when they tell you that 'Johnny' isn't their friend any more? Sometimes we need to listen to our own advise! I know, but I have learned alot when I just listen to what I tell my kids!
....Deep breath.....don't forget to bring some gum (that keeps me from saying anything stupid!) and listen....let them talk.....stop for ice cream on the way home! ;)

I would meet with them. First I would take some deep breaths before the meeting. Does anyone else have an idea why she is so upset. I would want to have some idea what she is going to talk about. I say take the bull by the horns and get it out in the open. Be the mature one and calm. That is always the best way to deal with these situations. Good Luck!

Help!!! I am the president of our PTA. The secretary has some issues with me and I am not even sure why. She is being very critical of me and "picking me apart". The officers want to have a meeting to discuss everything. I feel too emotional and defensive to want to sit down with them. What do you suggest?
