Our event is is May. In addition to our silent auction, we want to give out goody bags to guests. We have two in the works, one for kids and one for adults. Does anyone have any contacts for goody bag items? We have Wendy's, Pizza Hut, Chili's etc gift certificates for free items. We also have pens, magnets, etc from local banks and realtors. I got approved for Disney tickets and I was wondering if anyone had any leads of lodging for the even? Also, would anyone in Florida be wiling to trade donated tickets for something in South Carolina? I would love to have Universal Studios tickets, but I cannot request a donation unless I live in Florida. Hope to hear from y'all soon
I noticed some places are doing this to get bigger ticket items and it seems to work best for raffles. They send a seperate letter to the type of business that might not have a great auction item to donate (accounting firm, law firm, funeral home ect) that families from the school have a connection with. Ask them to consider donating a Ipad, GPS, television. Give them suggestions of items that would be lucrative when selling raffle tickets. The $$ earned in raffle ticket sales will hopefully exceed the cost of the item so the business ends up making a really great contribution, someone gets a great prize, the school makes good $$ and the business gets great advertising. Put a nice big sign next to the item saying which business donated it. Mention the item and the donor in as many pre and post event communications as possible! This doesn't work as great for a silent auction where a business donates something for $400 and it sells for$300. Then it would just be better if the business bought a sponsorship ad. Some schools also ask parents that can't attend the event or contribute a basket to make a small donation to the big ticket item fund, then the school can use those collections towards a bigger item. When shopping for said item, be sure to get whatever discount you can. Bring along the parent who has the discount card or coupon or advise the store manager that is for charity and see if they are able to do anything on the price.
i always find it best to put the school address down. I think it reassures them you are from a real school. i think it is just a safer bet all the way around. I gave my school secretary an envelope to put my mail in and just check in with her weekly. sometimes she calls and informs me there is a package i need to pick up.
