At first I wanted to lose 10 lbs, then 8. Then...5 will be all right. Now, I'd be happy with 3, which is pretty realistic when it comes to monthly issues (cravings and such for a week) ~

CC - I hope you're feeling better. Nothing here with the gallbladder but I did have my appendix out a couple years ago. Not fun.

My Latest Pet Escapade

My sweet little lovey, the youngest girl, so innocent, affectionate, wants to save the world (and cook for them while doing it) has always just wanted her 'own' pet to love.

We have a dog. We've got a cat (remember the moron?). Family pets, though. "Mommy, I just would reeeallllyyy love a pet of my own." So, we've tried the hamsters. Three to be exact. We read up on them, treated them like gold and each one - 2 months, tops! Then, we moved on to fish. First, there was Lucky Lucy who was not so lucky. She was a field days fish and was only with us 2 days until the toilet ceremony. Then, there was Bubbles and Swimmy. They were going strong!! Until 2 months later..... Next came little Pebbles. Sweet little Pebbles went into the big watery swirl at 8:00 this morning.

So, with leftover tears in her eyes she walked off to school with her sister and my heart broke. I was sitting in the pet store parking lot (which opens at 9) at 8:56. "A pet emergency you say? Ma'am, come right this way!" She is now going to come home to a beautiful fluffy white guinea pig with a cute litte brown spot over one eye. The cage is a palace, the toys and treats are in place. The food and water and hay are ready for enjoying. I know she's going to love it!

My husband...?!?! May not love it so much but he'll deal when he sees the look in her eyes.

Now, I ask that everyone please...wish us luck. :)

We are gettin' a hit of warm weather for the rest of the week also ... just when I was gettin' used to the cozy fireplace at night. There is just something about relaxing after a long day next to a lit fireplace with a good book and a glass of wine ... works every time.
Had a interresting morning - walking the pooch and a neighborhood parent stopped by on bike. Offered to walk the rest of our route with us. Given my past luck with neighbors I was guarded but was really uplifted to know she felt the same about some of the same things ... she brought up the subjects. It's kinda nice to know I am not crazy or in a boat by myself ... at least for today.
D - you make me laugh which is always welcome. My husband could use more than 5lbs but for some reason he never seems to gain much despite eating like there is no tomorrow. It really pisses me off to tell you the truth. I look at a cupcake, brownie, piece of cake etc and gain 5lbs. He eats the whole pan of whatever and nothing.

So I have to trust CC--but having had only 9 pound plus babies...I'm not sure I think the stone thing is the equivilant...but at least they know about my period cramps...(can we say that?)....
LOVE field trips..I mean the idea of folks all at one time going to the same place and, after 5 years (in my case) of seeing the same blessed horse pooping continue to marvel at the wonder of nature...well I just have to bury myself in new moms to enjoy the "experience" it brings....
Docs are the same. If I could just write the dang prescription myself, I KNOW when they need antibiotic, and I still wait in line at the "druggie doc" to ensure they get that -- because I have this nagging thought that if they ever have the dreaded 'STREP' it will lead to lost limbs etc....I don't want to be a Ladies Home Journal article...
And then workouts...Silver--THANK YOU for not losing those extra 5 pounds because I SWEAR I will find them and they will become yet another permanent treasure I carry around in my life. I often wondered as I struggled with my weight in my early 30s and 40s what would happen if I stopped running...WELL NOW I KNOW...and frankly...it's ugly. NOT ugly enough for me to start running again mind you....but ugly enough for me to encourage my hubby to gain some weight...you know?

Okay - so here's my first real email of the year to my new parents. All 215 of them (up 65 from last year)...but I entitled it "Thirteen Days"

THAT’s how long it took my kindercat to make it to the principal’s office. Now…poor #4 has been practically raised in the school: he was still nursing when I started this gig…and since I’ve got 4 boys—I’m actually pretty proud they don’t have assigned seating for my clan in the front office…but needless to say, when #4 came plopping down the bus stairs and said “Mommy—I went to the principal’s office today”….well let’s just say that little boy’s whole world changed. So why share this with you, 215 of my closest new friends…cause I want you to know we’re all in this together. I realized a long time ago that you can’t airbrush life – and you really only appreciate it when you’re looking backwards at the places it has taken you. So now I take great pride when little man gets off the bus everyday since that day and says “Mommy—I did NOT go to the principal’s office today”. Seems like we’re both always learning something.

Have a Brilliant Day!

I haven't had gallbladder problems but have heard anything 'stone' related is nasty. They have this news article floating around the web today about body organs/parts humans could probably do without ... apendix, wisdom teeth, pinky toes ... etc. What does the gallbladder do? If removed what are the issues? Another organ we could live without? Gosh ... I hope the answer is revealed soon so you can get some relief CC.
This week is the week for field trips (all grades on different days of course), doctor appointments and parent teacher conferences. We wouldn't want to spread anything out ... that would be way to relaxing.
I have really feel off of the workout routine these past couple of months. I am trying to find something to motivate me but the pile of work seems to take precedence when I look at the 'daily list'. Is this a sign of the winter weather and 'winter blues' to come. Anyone else in the same boat?
