Our school district is going through some very stressful boundary changes and I think some the parents are bitter about it all. But is refusing to be a part of your child's school a good way to prove you're pissed? Whose really losing in that scenario? I think I've just run into a lot of people who would rather take their proverbial "lemons" and suck on them than make lemonade! Makes me really appreciate the ones who have volunteered to work double shifts and rearrange work schedules so they can be there. Those are the parents who make your day!

Maybe I'll make cheesecakes for them!!!

Here's your strawberries and I made you a margarite with Cabo-the best. Not too long ago someone on here mention that if all of got together and started our own school where we only had to put in a fraction of the effort we do now that it would be the best place in the world. Since I can't be there, just know that I feel your pain. Our Pres is in the process of quiting and she asked me for supplies for carnival donation letters back in July and she still hasn't done anything and she would never tell anyone what was or wasn't done or what they could do to help and now she's quitting and I'm back to where I was this time last year. I would give anything for 2 or 3 more parents who could just help with the leg work, but maybe now that she's gone, it will happen because I cna show the people that wanted to help early that I do need them. Ok, I'm done. I forgot, here is some Kahlua cheesecake too.

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

Oooooooo, cheesecake!! With fresh strawberries?

I need some comfort food. I'm depressed over the lack of volunteers to help with the spring carnival. I have 48 kids in the 2 classrooms where I serve as room parent and I can't fill the 7 slots I need for the class game. "I'm too busy." "We're not coming." "We'll be out of town that weekend." I'd lay money that I'll see almost every one of those people that night! Don't lie to me, just admit that you're too lazy to put forth that 30 minutes of effort!! Yes, I'm a little bitter!

More cheesecake please, and add a margarita to that order!

It's been a while since I've been here. We went on a mini-break over the long weekend (kids out Thurs & Fri for conferences and Mon for Pres. Day). It's funny how it seems I always need a vacation from my vacation! I'll do some dusting while I'm here and leave some cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory from our trip.

LOL Tim, I think there are quite a few of us forum-aholics here. Glad to know we may be getting the response bow back, thank you.

Second day of turn ins for the magazine sale and the future is still bleak. Alot more came in, but still not what was expected. Egads!!!! We are hoping it's the whole various turn-in day thing, that parents just aren't used to it and that next Thursdays final turn-in will blow us away! My name will surely be MUD if it's not.

Not only the dismal sales but the lack of parental involvement. I placed over 40 phone calls to people on the school's volunteer lists and was finally able to get 10 moms to commit to one or all of the turn-in days. This morning, 2 called to say they had sick children and the other 2 just didn't show up. So, guess who counted and tallied everything??? That's right...me, the PTA secretary; PTA President; and PTA Treasurer. The reliable, can always count on vanguard.

We always hear about "I want to be involved, but nobody ever calls me". Well, this was a perfect example of what happens even when calls ARE made.
SHEESH!! Wow, I needed that rant and rave time, thanks for reading. I'll be back for alot of something strong...after I finish tallying subscriptions, calling the sales rep., counting books for our book giveaway in March, calling Scholastic, calling the middle school PTA Pres., making reminder fliers, and whatever else comes up. LOL, the madness continues............
