Ouch!!! C3 and C4 here L4 and L5 falling out of a perfectly good airplane (I wasnt very high speed that day) actually hitting the ground I WAS high speed. I havent heard anyone use that term since Slick Willy paid me to retire early.

I know how you feel on both fronts although stay-at-home parents also do as much before 9am as most do in a day (Old US Army recruiting slogan)

Hope they let you take it easy, its a big adjustment

d- that's why I don't go on vacation. I can't remember where I am if I am asleep! I should also say that my youngest son sleep walks really bad ( he's 5 ) and I would be afraid of where he would end up...He would be the one with the broken neck and I would feel horrible.

Feel better d!
It's off to the FOOTBALL GAME that my hubby coaches but my son quit playing as you might remember. Why am I going? It's like 100 outside and my laundry is piling up. Oh well, go JETS!!! ( not the real jets - if there is a team out there - just the little Jets. )

Ha--someone asked me how the other guy looked--I pointed to my hubby and said "there he is"....Well it was the third night of no sleep due to sick little boys and my hubby and I were asleep in the loft of a rented condo when I guess I thought I heard one calling. I went running out the door thinking I was home and went full speed, head first down the stairs. The C2 is one of 3 bones at the top of the neck upon which your crainium rests. It is rarely a bone just damaged, and is usually broken. The resulting outcome is usually death as it severs the spinal cord. It is called the hangmans break because that is where they place the noose when they want to kill you as it was seen as the mosr humane, quick death (as opposed to strangling when the noose was too low. My face also recieved mega burns from the slide down the rug so my face is numb due to nerve damage. The amazing thing is this stuff either kills you or you walk away clean an for some reason I'm walking very thabkfully away.
I have taken themessage that I need to stop worrying about what I'm not doing with my life and start recognize what I am....I went from a pretty high speed, senior Army Officer to a stay at home mom and haven't been very satisfied. I think I get it now....and whatever comes tomorrow I'll be doing what I'm meant to do...for the first time in my life I'm a taker and not a giver and I think that is exactly what God meant for me to be---seeing how very many friends I've cultivated over the years. Odd sort of a mid life crises...but okay, I get it. Thanks for the good thoughts....

Oh yeah, and now I'm on a full blown rant.... One time I got a black eye from a scuba incident (equalize your mask!). Two days later I went out for lunch with my mom and one of my sisters. After about an hour I said, "I can't believe neither of you noticed my black eye. I guess it isn't as bad as I thought." My mom said, sheepishly, "Well, I know how these things can happen. Your father...." My sister said, "I was in an abusive realtionship. It can be hard to leave."

WHAT!?!?!?

A - My husband is the best man I know. How could my mom and sister - after 24 years - think he's the kind of man who would hit?

B - How can a mom and sister NOT help if they do suspect abuse?

OK, I'm done ranting now.

D - I did a simple Google search on C2 Hangman's Fracture - wow! Be careful what you read because medical info on the web can either be great and very helpful or total BS - and it's hard to know the difference!

Not that I have any idea what you are feeling, but I know how a bad fall or even a seemingly minor fall can cause a lot of damage. On my last vacation I was hiking a pretty steep trail when I tripped and fell. I threw my hands out to break the fall and still hit my head and cheekbone on nearby rocks. I shredded both palms, sprained a wrist, got a black eye and was sore the whole next day. People were staring at my husband like he must have abused me. The poor guy was tried and convicted in the court of public opinion.

I'm glad to see that you have a sense of humor about the whole thing. At least it seems that way with your comment about how most people don't survive.... You should see the way people stand around my bed and cry when I have a blood clot (three to date and hopefully no more). It's like one of those last rites scenes from the movies. Keep your chin up (mentally if not physically!) your sense of humor intact and enjoy all of those yummy homemade meals your friends are bringing over!!!
