What is not funny anymore in our household "SO KIDDOS what cha wear'n today? Your blue or white shirts with blue pants or khaki pants? LET'S GO!" Then again the uniform is heaven sent for the Kindergarter! And he is so darn cute!

Crew...I had a feeling but it was fun to ask!!

Our middle school gives out the picture order packets at registration that way they go into the parents' hands. My daughter is great about getting stuff home, but not about sharing it, as for my son...fugeddaboutit. She's never been a problem to dress up before, but this school year all she wears is sportswear. I purposely laid out all her cute little capris and asked about her need for jeans yesterday. Today's outfit-warm up pants and a sweatshirt. They're lavender, blue, and magenta at least.

I dropped my son off at school today and saw an "It's Picture Day!" sign in the drop off lane. D@^n it! Nothing came home!!! I remember seeing something when I was poking around on the website but then forgot about it. Always, at every other school he's attended, an order packet came home about a week or two before picture day. He said he didn't get anything like that. Oh well, he's a boy. We don't have 'girly' hair and clothes issues. He's wearing a black w/blue flames Mopar t-shirt and jeans. Great. Grandma's gonna love that photo on her mantle! I watched all the other boys getting out of cars and they either had on golf shirts or t-shirts. Whew. I guess there's worse things. At least it wasn't his Barking Spider t-shirt (which I won't let him wear to school anyway)!!!

6 Pack, I've heard before of pregnant women craving dirt-some kind of mineral deficiency. I had a friend when I was little who ate dirt-I'd make the mudpies and he would eat them. He was the big basketball stud in high school, but never acted that way around me-guess I had too much "dirt" on him!!!!

When I was out for a walk last night, one of the neighbors had a new Hummer parked in the driveway. I looked at that thing, then looked at the garage and figured it was never going to fit. I think I would hurt myself getting out of one-it's a long way down!

Shawn, one of the best (score-wise) schools where i am, the principal told me point blank, our website stinks and is out of date and i am the first to admit it (but that doestn affect the quality of your childs education, obviously), reason: lack of funding for webmaster etc.

But there is no excuse for not putting papers in the mail to parents to inform. from my understanding, public school postage is reimbursed and therefore shouldnt hinge on budgetary matters.

maybe make lemonade, offer to be PTOA webmaster at your new school

Oh Shawn, they just have no idea what kind of fun is in store for them. I have a feeling they're about to find out! In typical "Shawn" style, you'll blow them away and they'll wonder how they ever got along without you.

Seriously, they probably don't even know any better. My last school was one of those great small town, nothing changes, everyone knows everyone kind of places. Um, unless you're new, everthing's changed and you don't know anyone! My group saw the light when a new parent said she couldn't believe we didn't do a Newcomer's Coffee like her last school did. It never occured to us to do one. In our defense, we did send a welcome letter and brochure to each new family. We posted regularly in the school newsletter. And we finally jumped on the technology bandwagon and started submitting items for the website. But it took someone from the outside looking in to let us know how we were failing the new families. Now that I'm a 'new family' I, too, am shocked by the complete lack of info coming from the PTO here. Nothing, Nada, Zilch. If I hadn't been to the school's website, I wouldn't even know there was a PTO here. I hope they impress me at Open House at the end of the month!
