I bounce between educational and entertainment. Sometimes I can have several books going at the same time and pick up whichever one fits my mood at the time. We went to Barnes & Noble today so I picked up Obama's book.

Anyone looking for a real triumph over adversity book might enjoy Ronan Tynan's book Halfway Home. He is an amazing man with a beautiful soul. Not only is he one of the Three Irish Tenors, but he also has many more amazing accomplishments. You might remember that he sang Amazing Grace at Ronald Reagan's funeral. I am just completely in awe of him. Check out www.ronantynan.com .

Good save, GaMom! The shorty gets out at 11:30 on Friday so maybe we'll go to see Charlotte's Web too.

Now I'm off to continue through the boxes of decorations. So far nothing is broken that I can't live without anyway. But one of my treasured Denise Calla 12 Days of Christmas statues is missing. I'll be very sad if I don't find it...

No! That idea ROCKS GAMom! I was thinking along the same lines of my girls. You know what they say about great minds... ;)

That is so funny about reading cookbooks, cause I do it too. it drives my husband crazy. One year for christmas, my granny ordered me taste of home magazine for 2 whole years! I bought a 3 inch binder and sleeve protectors and put them all in there! i love a good cook book!

My boys almost found Santa's sleigh the other day. I have Lego's stashed in the trunk of the car--not safe i know but hadn't had a chance to hide them yet. Anyway, I opened the trunk to get something else and one saw a lego logo and started getting excited. So now I have told them each seperately that I found some ego's on sale and it is for them to give the other. :0

BTW--walmart was insane today! stay in the safety of your own homes!!! I like Shawn's online shopping ideas!

Charlottes Web comes out this Friday! I am SO excited!!! At our school on Friday we won't get penalized for checking the kids out early because of all the parties and such, so I may do that and hit the movies with the boys! Is that sad or what!!!

Good for you GAMom! I hope there were some candles and a glass of wine involved with that bubble bath!

I happen to be on the same page about books as GaMom is....I just want to escape! I have a philosopy that is applied to my books and movies.........The real world is violent and depressing enough. I don't need to get it in my movies or books -I started to feel this way YEARS ago after I left the movie theater just having watched Demi Moore in the 7th Sign.
*****Disclaimer!!!! Don't read ......ending being blown!****
SHE DIES! Now, if you've seen the movie, you'll know why she died. But I was livid as I left... It's a movie folks. They could have saved her. Anyway, I won't get into my full blown rant about that one.

Ga, don't let my post fool you, I'm a die hard Jude Deveraux/Judith McNaught fan. Have everyone of their books, especially the historical romances. My husband always knows when something is wrong because I break out the old books that I've read a million times to reread. Every now and then I just hear enough about a book that I have to pick it up. I will admit that I hate depressing books. Almost everything on Oprah's list falls in that category. I read to 1)grow in knowledge or 2)to have a getaway from reality. I know it sounds silly, but that's just me. I also read cookbooks. Did I mention I have 3 huge bookcases filled and more books that I don't have room for?

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris
