page two......

Ohio - my MIL always got up an hour or so before her family just for that brief quiet time before the craziness would start.

I'm a big fan of martial arts, especially for boys. It's great for all kids, really. Girls get huge benefits from it. But most boys, they need to hit, punch, kick, yell. They can't help themselves... Karate, tae kwon do, things like that, teach them to do it properly, have a safe outlet for it and learn how to take a hit as much as to give one. For my son at least, using up that energy and focus in class minimizes his need to do it when he's roughing around with his friends. Plus a good instructor will teach them that there's a time and place for it and threaten them with bumping them down a belt or two if they find out they're misusing their skills. When the shorty was really little I didn't allow him to spar but now that he's a teenager, I let him.

For me, starting it as an adult is about fitness, strength and challenging myself to do something that scares me!

My boys want to start karate---I am all for it but hubby is alittle hesitant(his thinking is they will just be beating each other up more practicing their kicks and punches!! LOL) Plus he thinks I run here and there for them enough already--with basketball and wrestling and scouts and baseball and PTO and student council and choir council and..........I am at every function that goes on in the school now I think LOL!! Everyone knows if their kids need a ride to anything I will be going LOL!! Maybe I should start a TAXI service on the side LOL!!
I don't dare get my kids out of bed to do the chores at 4:30 unless I want one very GRUMPY GROUCHY bunch all day LOL!! I would rather do it myself and have peace all day---plus its kinda nice to just be alone with the quiet(well besides animal noises) for awhile--I use it for my Thinking Time!!

Tim is great. He's tolerated page two forever so we're grateful for that. But like any other good leader, he has to keep his eye on the big picture and make sure this is a great place for everyone to visit.

Oh my goodness. We did sparring at Karate last night. I stink at sparring. I can't hit somebody I'm not mad at. I have no problem hitting, kicking (throwing shoes at) someone I am mad at though. :p Usually I just bob around and try to block whatever comes my way. After a solid crescent kick to the gut, though, I did get mad and gave it right back. Now my leg hurts too because, apparently, my leg doesn't really like to move that way. I work the sympathy angle, though. I bruise easy thanks to the coumadin so everyone's afraid to hit me too hard!

"Maybe that's the key to national obesity, tv is so bad we have to eat to enjoy it...hmmm." Hmmmmmmmm interesting point! ...

Tim closed my humor thread.. BOO HOO HOO.. but then again, I knew he might, and I am certainly not offended in any way :) that type of thread VERY risky on a public forum and what's not offensive to one may be very offensive to another.. and although I started it by asking people to play nice, that first post would get buried very quickly! :) Tim's smart in playing it safe...

I really don't care for American Idol. My kids like seeing the people tryout too. So, I'm sitting here watching some poor guy sing Celine Dion and I want him to please quit. I can't wait for the sweeps programming to get started so there is some entertainment. Listening to a group of people berate everyone trying to please them is not entertainment. I'm trying to lose weight or I'd go bake something. Maybe that's the key to national obesity, tv is so bad we have to eat to enjoy it...hmmm.

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

You are better women than I; I could never live on a farm. I will stick with gardening; much more relaxing IMO.
Sucess in the brownie department. The doughboy must have taken pitty on me. The sides are slightly crunchy and the center is cake like ... I can already tell they will not last past 8 pm tonight.
American Idol starts tonight. We only watch the first few episodes so we can watch the 'not so talented' and giggle our heads off.
Obama stated today he is filing papers for 2008. It's heating up - get ready set go!
