This Friday is our BIG day! Honestly our community has really come together to help make our Art Show happen.

Our local Fairgrounds donated the usage of their peg board panels that they use for showcasing art work during the Fair.

Then I needed some pegs to go with the peg board. A friend of mine used to own a scrapbook store and she had some pegs that I am borrowing.

Our artist in residence came from our local Arts Center. The Arts Center had sent an email at the end of last year stating that they had received a large grant to help fund art projects in our school district. I just got my invoice and for a total of 40 hours of instructional time and 5 different art projects taught to our ENTIRE school of 350 kids PLUS supplies.....drum roll please....409.00 So barely over a dollar per kid to have an hour and a half of instructional time!

The artist donated the use of some of her supplies to help decorate the gym.

Our volunteer pool comes from our Booster Club and the teachers are being a big help as well. We are setting up the panels and getting tables ready for display and then the teachers are bringing in the art projects and together we will set the show up.

We took away the pressure to have this event be a money maker and are having it as a free family/community involvement event. This helped make my job a whole lot easier.

We will be having a chocolate "tasting" booth, serve hot cocoa, punch and chocolate dipped shortbread cookies for treats....and one of our teachers has so kindly volunteered to play piano for background music. Our local jr and sr high jazz bands were both having events on the same night.

After some intense GOOGLE searching, I found a woman online who had put together multiple art shows...I figured what the heck, why not email her and ask if she has any tips! Well she was more than willing to help me out and we sent multiple emails back and forth. She supplied me with some photos, sign up sheet documents and a whole outline of how her event runs. It was GREAT!

Basically it has boiled down to being resourceful and not being afraid to ask for donations or help. Everyone I have worked with has been MORE than willing to donate time, money or supplies.

I will say that this has been extremely exhausting and perhaps isn't really a one WOMAN or MAN show.

Slowly but surely a few more details are falling into place.
We have had a few chocolate donations from local chocolatiers and have purchased some chocolates at a huge discount so we are going to be using those. Plus having hot chocolate and punch to drink.
I am hoping for this large chocolate lovers basket donation from a local gift store here in town to be used as a little raffle.
We host our cake walk during our Bingo Night, so we are going to skip out on that, although cake walks are FABULOUS ideas. We made 400 dollars off of our last one.
I have a parent looking into having some of the local Jr. High Jazz Ensemble come play live music for our art walk as well.
Phewwwwww...My stress level has been through the roof but little by little I am figuring things out.
I am still game for any other suggestions

We are having our ARts Fair on Jan. 28th....we have an artist coming also. I think we are going to have a silent auction to auction off some of the kids artwork. We are also having a cake walk which typically brings in some GREAT money. You will also get a lot of volunteers who may not want to actually help but will gladly bake some goodies.

Charge 50 cents a turn or 5 turns for $2.

I am going to be hosting our school's first ever Art Walk event and am looking for any kind of advice anyone might have to offer from setup and tear down to raising money.

I have arranged to have a local artist-in-residence come teach several different art projects to every class in our school. I am going to be featuring the kids' art work in the gym using donated peg board from our local fairgrounds and the cafeteria tables.

It has been mentioned more than once from teachers and parents alike, about raising money at this event? Does anyone have any easy ideas? I was thinking of having it be a chocolate/art event and have solicited about 20 different local chocolatiers in our area but received 2 no's and 18 no responses.

We have about 8 families who help with every event, so man power and time is always a problem.
