Yes - you can rent projectors (but I am sure a parent has one at work). Take a look at a couple other movie night posts that have been started, there are a lot of good ideas on how to run one. Just get it in order, talk to the princple and do it. As far as not being set up for it, it can be in the cafeteria or gym. It could be one grade at a time if space is an issue (that's what we had to do).

our school owned a projector and let us borrow it for the showing and a larger sized classroom type screen. also we held it in out gym and had everyone gather with blankets and pillows on the floor, kids could move around without upsetting everyone! It was great! food was a problem at first but we had popcorn and bottled water and did sport top bottles less spills. It was a huge success everyone can't wait till we do it again!

Can you rent the projector or the equipment needed to show a movie? I did get to talk to the building mgr and (when he stopped laughing and realized I was serious  ) he told me we are not yet set-up for showing movies. It's the whole security thing that has me  .

Yep - jump on it. It would be a much better movie night in there that the cafeteria that we had our's in. We did ours at night on a friday (kids wore pjs, we just had juice water and pop and popcorn - kept it simple).

Just do it, it will be fun!

If your school has that kind of an auditorium, what are they saving it for? As a tax payer, I would be thrilled to watch a movie in my new auditorium. Keep the food clean and simple, or don't allow any into the auditorium, but use that fabulous new space and turn up the surround sound!

Okay, I'm reading about all the good and bad of these movie nights but I'm still wondering, how? I mean, what do you use to project a movie? what kind of help do you need from the school? where do you have the event? Morning? Evening? Saturday? Days off? (we don't have half days)

Our school just completed a $5 million auditorium(FINALLY!) and I would love to do this! Food maybe an issue (new new new) and they have a thing about having security (new furniture in the lobby)....should I just aim for the cafeteria instead? ;) Also I know selling food maybe an issue unless the cafeteria does it (money money money).

I have the info I need to get a license and a good idea of movies but need guidence on the school part.

I would love to do and Elementary night AND a middle/high school night as I have children ages 13 to 2!

Thanks everyone!
