Family Game Night

Today I volunteered to be Family Fun Night chair, since I introduced the concept. Now I need some help please.

For those of you that have done or are doing family fun/game night, what do you do about kids too old to be in the car seat, and too young to play Candyland?
Do parents just have to hang on to their kids and try to participate with their older kids?

Also...do familys play as a family, or do they divide up with adults playing something at one table, kids playing with friends at another?

How long does the "night" last? Do people have time to play more than one game? Are there times where there are games in progress and late comers don't get into something?

Whether you've done it, or just have some ideas for me I'd love to hear about it!

Hi Momski. I love your ideas. Could you send me a copy of your flyer? Thanks in advance

Seesm appropriate here. Back when this thread started, we didn't yet have Family Fun & Games Night up and ready.

While momski's night is more of a board game night (a great idea, by the way), our Fun & Games Night, sponsored by FamilyFun magazine, is a Night with interactive, high-energy games for moms & dads to play with the kids. Example: "Mom Calling" where Moms are blind-folded and have to find there own children only by voice (amidst dozens of other voices all also yelling "mom!").

FamilyFun has helped us create a great kit to make it all very easy to execute.

I always seem to be too late.........but here goes.

At our game night we did some of the games in lifesize. I painted a twister mat onto a tarp as well as a checker board on another tarp. We also got boxes donated from Office Depot and I made very large dice. We played yatzee out on the playground. The kids really liked this one.

We also had some board games in the cafeteria.
