Our elementary school's main focus is on the students and how to better the school for them. What can we do for them?

Our new Middle School PTO is focused on the teachers and what they can do to support them.

In each case, it works! Two different schools with two different approaches to better and support their schools in whole.

The initials PTO represent the individuals who are involved with the organization. They should not be the ones receiving money. I am not sure why parents would be receiving money. Can someone expand on that.

I think this kind of proportion math is OK, but up to each individual group to decide for themselves.

Example: it would be perfectly OK if a group decided to use every dollar on building involvement. Example: let's say a group raises $10,000 per year and spends all of that on putting on family events, providing expert speakers for parents, creating communications tools between parents & teachers, etc. That would be a perfectly appropriate choice.

Guess I'm just saying: there are lots of ways to help the kids/school. Doesn't have to mean that the dollars are spent so literally on "things the kids themselves actually physically use or do" (a computer, a field trip, a playground).

My opinion is that the PTO is there to support the school and its stakeholders. So much like the school's primary mission is towards the children's, so is the PTO's.

Both the school and PTO also have a role in serving the teachers, staff, parents, and even the community to a lesser degree.

Proportionately, the majority of resources should go to the students, but the other segments deserve support also.

i think is is good to get teachers involved how else are we to know how to better serve the school and students new president
