That's what we will do! Have a Mudpies with Mom and Daisies with Dad>>> Have the Dad's make flower arrangements for the teachers...have Mom's make Mudpies to throw at the principal. HA!

Are you serious about the ketchup? Please find that link, would love to read about that!

Ok, life is good. I won't gripe about it again.

aOK- I have never heard of that before. I guess technically we are in the same boat. GEEZ!

Do you actually know how to bake an organic lo fat no sugar cupcake...and how would that classify as a cupcake? LOL POOR KIDS!

One "real" question - let's say that my son brings in his lunch and for desert he has a brownie. Would he get in trouble for that because the other kids can't have one? Just curious as to what happens when they bring in something unhealthy.

Thanks
B

You guys have it easy. We cant bring zilch to school for the kids (bagged lunch still OK, as of now) ...parties, parent org stuff, everything food , has to come out of the CAFETERIA and has been that way for ages and is NOTHING to do with the govt new food rules and estrictions...purely a matter of food safety issues. but of courese, they do offer healthy foods and no junk.

Parents cant even bake an organic lo fat no sugar cupcake to bring to class party, or cut fruit an veggies, beucase of food handling issues!!!! And we are public shool.

So, maybe the grass on your side is still green!!

D- you are a breath of fresh air. You have posted alot of great ideas. You know that we can't even have pizza??? No pancakes, no cinnamon, no ice cream...TN scored #47 in the US in this poll that was done and apparently we have alot of overweight children. They are going to get themselves into a lot of trouble with these new rules. Our principal even stated that it could go as far as not letting the parents buy items for their own children to snack on that wasn't "healthy". I fully understand this, but when my children are far from being overweight( my 7 year old weighs 51lbs and is 4'2" and my 4 year old weighs 37lbs.) are punished for other children's issues...agh! Where do we draw the line? Who has the right to govern what my children eat. that's another post...

Yes D- I have become more PUPMED since reading these. There are other options I know. They are good options. I just spent alot of time coming up w/ the ideas that I had to present at the meeting. It's frustrating.

Today's a new day.
Thanks

Or Pizza with Parents (heck Pizza for breakfast is a MAINSTAY at our house). Let folks know that you are working to do things in the confines of the new policy...they'll come!!!

How about an Ice Cream social...or Celebrate Ice Cream for Breakfast Day... (in October I think)...

Crafts with Kids--Have clay pots and a flower for the kids to decorate with their parent with stick on decorations and then a flower to plant and grow.

Reindeer food making morning for the holidays...bring the kids in--teach them how to make reindeer food and let them and their parents move to different stations learning a fact about a reindeer and making a bit of reindeer food to where they leave at the end of the morning/evening with a lot of information and a bag of sparkly reindeer food to spread in anticipation of the big guy.

Or a more culteral event...latkes for breakfast rock...along with other traditions!

Parents with Purple...(all parents coming have to wear purple or their favorite color as a family and serve whatever the heck is allowed (again))....

Out of the box ideas here is what we're thinking now that you have these restrictions. Every other school in the county will be "woeing is me" about what is not allowed and YOUR school will be setting the standard...that's what a PTO is all about...staying inside the lines but making sure the lines move to work in our favor!!!!

ARE YOU PUMPED NOW GIRLFRIEND!!!!!
