I'm not sure...

It seems that food is a touchy subject! Why not look at another direction that involves more physical or non-food related activities for the kids? Bike-a-thons and walk-a-thons, pajama nights with stories read by the teachers, arts & crafts, outdoors with Dads, etc. See what is happening in your area, like literacy month or bike safety month and tie that in to an activity for the kids. Good Luck!

Shawn,

I never heard of the shcool with the banned ketchup deal, how crazy does it get. But then, our own school has its very own, special, quirks that no one else has, so I cant say we are any saner.
PTOCES, our kids can pack sugar cubes and coke in their bagged lunch (and sometimes it looks like they do!) the only rule is: NO FOOD SHARING.
Funny how they serve cotton candy at every fun event....our mgmt obviously supports junk foods when offered by the PTO and not the cafeteria! When food is issued by the school cafe, as by USDA rules, we show we mean business with good foods, when it comes to class parties and school fun events,ie, when parents bring the food, its oh I better give Johnny an extra dose of ritalin before the school dance tonite cuz all he will eat is hi sugar hi food coloring containing junk.

Thanks tmorton, I am in TN. And now it's manadatory, thanks for posting this site.

We were told that we wouldn't be able to have brithday parties period. We'll see how it turns out. With this being the first year that they are "trying"this, I think we will learn a lot.

We've had to follow a giudeline for the last 2 years and it's not as bad as it sounds. We get 3 exempt days a year so the kids can have anything then. You can have Birthday parties as long as it's after lunch.I don't know what state your from but in Texas this is now mandatory. Here's the website we use maybe it will help you some. www.squaremeals.org

TOOOO Funny!

I never heard that before. OUr Mcdonalds tried to charge for ketchup packets...you could get a "little cup" for free if you were eating there.

Apparently we need to invest in the little packets, they must be GOLD

LOL

Netscape change their hompage thing and its a bunch of mishmash/ gobblygloop pasted toghether.

The new layout is horrible.

But it had something to do with either/ both
Kids were smashing ketchup packets, plus they cost too much, so u get 2 with lunch, extras are .25 but ketchup bottles are not allowed 2 be brought from home. So some kids brought them and got caught 2 days in a row, the either got/gettting reprimand/suspension.. Now one of the kids has filed ACLU lawsuit and is staging protest/ boycott of cafeteria.

All this over some liberal knuckleheads wifes' condiment (my attempt 2 jab at Kerry, hehe)
Heinz stock is in big trouble maybe she should just donate it 2 the school- good PR
