Teacher Thank You Thursday

18 years 2 months ago #115215 by dlf
Hi Guys--just did something I thought I'd share and perhaps you might like to do as well. As you know, next week is Teacher Appreciation Week. Well we just went through an icky budget vote and the school's have some pretty low morale facing the cuts they're facing. To try to organize support for the county's schools, I wrote an editorial to the local paper for them to publish Sunday in the editorials. I've attached below so if you want to you can just cut and paste and send to your own paper. I think this would be terrific, if all the Teachers of America got a thank you card next Thursday...lord knows they deserve it.

Dear Editor:
If you have children, or have ever been one, this is a very important week. May 8-12 is National Teacher’s Appreciation Week. PTOs and PTAs across the county are working to make this week special and there’s a way you can help. Without argument our nation is the greatest in the world due in no small part to our teachers. More than ever they need to know that our citizens appreciate what they do as they face a lot of hard questions about budget cuts, changes in the school administration, and school size issues. So let’s come together and give them a boost. Please, join together and say “thank you” to our educators. What I propose we all consider is “Teacher-Thank-You-Thursday” where you, your children that attend school, your children that have attended school and those of you that think this county’s teachers are the best, write a thank you note and send it into your child’s classroom. You will touch the heart of our teachers and they in turn will continue to touch the hearts of our children. We were all taught early on to say thank you when we are given a gift. Now more than ever that lesson pertains to our teachers.
